Amorino Introduce
In the vibrant heart of downtown Chicago, amidst the hustle and bustle of a world-class city, lies a destination for those who seek not just a dessert, but an experience. Amorino, located on South Michigan Avenue, brings the art and tradition of Italian gelato to Illinois. This is a place where quality and presentation are paramount, offering a unique take on a classic treat that is both a feast for the eyes and the palate. While its prime location makes it a magnet for tourists, its commitment to natural, high-quality ingredients and a creamy, flavorful product ensures that it also holds a special appeal for discerning locals who appreciate a gourmet approach to gelato.
The moment you arrive at Amorino, the experience begins. The shop is renowned for its incredible visual appeal, with a stunning display of gelato that is sculpted into the shape of a flower on a cone. This "spectacle," as one customer describes it, is a major draw and has undeniable "high Instagram appeal." However, as another reviewer notes, the substance is far from lacking. The gelato is praised for its "amazing creamy texture and super flavourful" profile, with flavors that are "very natural tasting without any chemical tastes whatsoever." This blend of visual artistry and genuine taste is what elevates Amorino above the average ice cream shop, making it a memorable stop for a special indulgence.
While the shop can get "absolutely crowded" on weekends and holidays, as is common for a popular downtown establishment, the wait is often part of the experience. The "subway style" ordering process, where you choose your creation and then have your name called, adds a fun and interactive element to the visit. You can even "sample the ice creams before trying," which is a nice touch that ensures you’ll be happy with your final selection. The menu extends beyond just gelato, with offerings like crepes, waffles, and hot drinks, making it a versatile spot for a treat at any time of day. While some may find the price reflects the premium location and presentation, others find the quality of the product—especially its creamy texture and authentic flavors—to be well worth it.
For Illinois residents, particularly those in the Chicago area, Amorino provides a taste of Europe without leaving the city. It's a place to celebrate a special occasion, to treat a visiting friend, or simply to indulge in a luxurious moment of self-care. The shop also stands out for its inclusive menu, which offers a "plethora of gluten free and dairy free options." This commitment to accommodating different dietary needs is a significant feature that makes it a welcoming and suitable destination for a wider range of customers. In a city that prides itself on its world-class dining and cultural experiences, Amorino fits right in as a gourmet dessert spot that adds to the rich tapestry of Chicago's culinary scene.
Amorino is strategically located at 38 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603, USA, placing it in an ideal spot for anyone in the downtown area. This address is in the heart of Chicago’s bustling cultural and commercial center, near iconic landmarks like Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. Its position on Michigan Avenue, also known as the Magnificent Mile, means it is incredibly convenient for tourists and locals alike who are exploring the city's main attractions. This prime location is a key part of the shop's identity and appeal.
Accessibility to this location is excellent, thanks to Chicago's comprehensive public transportation network. The shop is within walking distance of several 'L' train stations and numerous bus stops, making it easy to reach from any neighborhood. For those who drive, a number of parking garages and lots are available in the surrounding area, though they can be expensive, as is typical for downtown Chicago. The shop itself has "some seating," but it's important to note that it "gets full really quickly on a weekend or on busy holidays." While it’s a great spot to grab a cone and take a stroll, finding a seat inside may require a bit of patience during peak hours.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I definitely think this is an ice cream shop, mainly cater to the tourists. It relies more on spectacle than substance. The ice cream was not bad by any means, but the price it commanded was not because of the taste which was just average, but rather the location and the fact that a lot of people go here. When I went on a weekend, it was absolutely crowded and one had to wait about half an hour before getting the ice cream. You place your order, and then they call out your name, and then you make your ice cream creation, subway style. There are some seating, but it gets full really quickly on a weekend or on busy holidays. You can sample the ice creams before trying, which is nice. The creations look nice and definitely have very high Instagram appeal. I don’t think I will be back, but it wasn’t bad for one time.
July 22 · Suman HazraDelicious gelato with an amazing creamy texture and super flavourful. It has very natural tasting flavors without any chemical tastes whatsoever. They have a plethora of gluten free and dairy free options.
July 20 · Steven WarrenI love this place. I just tried their new summer flavor, pear with hibiscus. It is so refreshing and delicious for the summer. I highly recommend it. The only down fall is it's always crowded. It could be the middle of winter and it is still crowded. Keep that in mind when going. Plan to wait around 15-20 mins before you get your order. I don't mind waiting. It's great for people watching. It is worth the wait!
July 04 · Tatiana PavichThis place was crazy busy on a Friday night around 11ish.It was confusing what to do here. Others thought the same. Others asked us as if we knew, but we didn't either. Turns out you can order at I think 3 different self other kiosks or order at the only register. After that you wait for your name to be called by one of the employees that make your creations you ordered. Can taste test different gelatos(website said 10 vegan flavors but had 8 while we were there). I wish they would of had more than just for flavors that were vegan, but the lemon basil, lemon, and mango flavors were good. I asked for raspberry too, but as I said it was extremely busy and must not have heard me say that flavor, it was not added. Do I think what I ordered was worth $10? Not really. Did Jeremy think his was worth $10? No he didn't. The cone was definitely lacking flavor, but the employee did make a pretty dessert reminiscent of a flower. It was an experience and was able to use their only restroom that also had a baby changing station and noticed their toilet paper was a smaller roll like you'd have at home. It was not the regular giant roll of Pom that restaurants or retail places have.
June 02 · Josh ArnoldA charming little ice cream shop that turns every scoop into a rose! The flavors are delicious, the place is clean, and the whole staff is super friendly and welcoming. Alex — one of the staff — was incredibly sweet and kind. Her smile and cheerful vibe made the experience even better. Highly recommended! 🌹🍦✨
