★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve lived in this town my entire life. I want to love local businesses, and I’ve given this place so many chances over the years—far more than I should have. But after my most recent visit, I can confidently say: I’m done. This was the last straw.Let me start with the only nice thing I can say: the ice cream is good. Not incredible, but good. Unfortunately, it’s also ridiculously overpriced, and absolutely not worth the drama and stress that come with stepping foot into this place. The owner is, without question, the worst part of the entire experience. Rude, cold, and just plain unkind. She’s made me and others uncomfortable on multiple occasions. One time, when my phone had died, I quietly plugged in my charger to a wall outlet near a table—not in the way of anything or anyone—and she yelled at me like I was stealing electricity. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for.And it’s not just how she treats customers. Every time I’ve gone in, the workers seem tense and afraid to speak freely. It’s honestly uncomfortable to witness. No one looks happy to be there—except maybe the owner when she’s bossing people around. Then there’s the infamous “Big Chill Challenge.” I’ve gone in more than FIVE times—each time asking to do the challenge, and every single time I’ve been given some excuse about why it’s not available. “We’re not doing it today,” “You have to call ahead,” “We’re out of the right size bowl,” “Too busy,” “Owner isn’t here,” etc. It’s basically a fake promotion. Stop advertising it if you’re never going to actually let anyone do it.I honestly don’t know how this business is still open, or how it has any decent reviews. It must be tourists who haven’t had the misfortune of dealing with the owner long enough to realize how toxic the environment is.Support local if you can—but there are plenty of other places in town that serve great ice cream without the side order of attitude. Save your money and your sanity.
July 17 · Y2ube KJust had a great experience here! The ice cream was delicious (as expected) but it’s the customer service that made this a 10/10 experience. The workers were so kind and patient. Definitely will go back (I personally recommend the kitchen sink ice cream!)
May 15 · Staci HornbergerWow! What a great find! The ice cream is great and the staff is super friendly! We tried a lot of different flavors and they all were delicious! We will definitely stop again when we're back in town.
March 01 · Frank BThis is 10 years after the fact, but it feels like I should write it still since it's stuck with me for so long.I visited here with a church group when I went to school at Bloomsburg (and still did "church" things). I was just hanging out, I couldn't afford to buy anything and didn't plan to. Someone commenting on that and I told them that I couldn't afford to buy anything there. Maybe I stood out and the owner remembered this because I'm a big guy. Maybe because I'm autistic and the weird body language caught her attention. I don't know. But my saying I couldn't afford to buy from her set her against me personally.Fast forward about a year later and I had finished the undergrad degrees I was working on, and looking for work in Bloomsburg. This shop was one of the places I was trying to find work. Applied, was interviewed, and invited to come back to meet with the owner after all the above.Instead of just telling me know, the owner, I forget her name, goes on to tell me how she recognized me but couldn't place where from. So she sat on that for a while until it came to her. And it did. She said I was the guy complaining the year before about her store being too expensive, and she would never hire me or someone like me.So, whether she singled me out, wasted my time, and made a point to do so because she wanted to discriminate against the poor kid that couldn't afford ice cream, or to discriminate against the awkward autistic guy who visited once, I don't know. But she did one of those two, and it's stuck with me for the past 10 years.Don't buy from her.
March 19 · DustinI had a friend recommend Brendan’s Big Chill and I was NOT disappointed. If you like cookies I would highly recommend their cookies monster flavor.
