CJ's Waterice and Ice Cream provides a focused yet satisfying range of services and treats, catering to the specific cravings of its clientele.
Refreshing Water Ice: The primary offering, and what the shop is named for, is its water ice. This classic frozen dessert is a staple in the Philadelphia and surrounding Pennsylvania region. Customers can choose from a variety of flavors, which are known for being exceptionally refreshing, especially on a hot day. Water ice is a dairy-free, fat-free option that provides a lighter alternative to traditional ice cream.
Classic Ice Cream: In addition to water ice, CJ's also serves a selection of ice cream. This allows for a wider appeal, ensuring that those who prefer a creamy texture have a satisfying option. It also opens up possibilities for combining the two, a popular choice known as a Gelati.
Gelati: A popular and classic combination, the Gelati layers water ice with ice cream. This creates a delightful mix of textures and flavors—the icy, sweet crush of the water ice paired with the smooth, rich creaminess of the ice cream. It's a signature treat that offers the best of both worlds.
Other Snacks: CJ's expands its menu beyond just frozen treats to include other beloved snack items. These can include things like funnel cakes and fried Oreos, which are popular choices for a more indulgent, fried dessert. This variety of offerings ensures that there is a treat for every mood and craving, making it a comprehensive dessert destination.
Take-out Service: As a walk-up or counter-service establishment, CJ's primarily offers take-out. This model is perfect for a quick stop, allowing customers to get their treats and enjoy them on the go or at a nearby park. This efficiency is highly valued by local customers looking for a fast and simple way to enjoy a sweet treat.

July 21 · Sophie SchäferThe customer service is trash. The lady at the register is ignorant. And she charged me $3 more for a plastic cup when I needed to use it as a lid. Water ice ain’t even that good
June 09 · Brianah JonesWater ice had no flavor at all. Taste like it been in the freezer for way to long. I had a mango tangerine gelati and a sour apple cherry water ice and both had no flavor. I recommend Fred’s wanted to try a new location but I’m disappointed by the flavor and lack of taste.
April 19 · Mia miaI ordered the mango gelati with fried oreos. It was so yummy. The mango water was some of the best that I have had in a while.
July 18 · VeeFirst time visitor: For starters the customer service lacks and the wait time to order is long as this is an independent business. I saw a man sitting on the side of the business but I don’t know if he worked there or not. I ordered, a large gelati, a cheese pretzel, 2 funnel cakes, and a strawberry shortcake milkshake. Each item is made when requested b/c there is only one man running the establishment so when you ask for one thing, he makes it and returns for the rest of your order. The milkshake tasted like strawberry milk and it was more milk than strawberry for sure 🤢. My daughter’s gelati had two mosquitos on the rim of the cup that were dead and she flicked them off. We received 1 funnel cake that I handed to my 7 year old. She went to sit at the table and immediately dropped it 🤯 So not only am I still waiting for the other cakes, 3 other people were waiting to order. When the guy returned with the funnel cake, I told him my daughter dropped the other one and that I would like another but I will wait until everyone else order was completed. So I waited and then went to the window and asked him to please make another funnel cake because my daughter dropped one. He did. My other daughter ordered 2 more cheese pretzels - Assuming that I would only be charged for the pretzels, I told her to pay. When it all came together, he charged for the extra funnel cake because “it is expensive”…that’s what he told my daughter. He said if it was the water ice or anything else, he would’ve replaced it for free🙄Now I have just spent $50 at your establishment and you couldn’t replace a funnel cake for a child who didn’t even leave the establishment or taste the cake before it hit the ground?!I was willing to ignore the dead mosquitos, the milkshake that tasted like a cup of milk, and the presence of the establishment due to all the rave reviews. Clearly they are rigged! Hell the dough in the funnel cake tasted stale despite him cooking it from scratch! I won’t be patronizing this place again. The only thing that went without complaint was the gelati itself. The first pretzel my daughter had was good. The next 2 she ordered for us both were hard and clearly had been sitting. He took cheese and squeezed it on some geriatric pretzels. It’s a no for me but to each his own .
