Class 520: Coffee & Ice cream Introduce
For those living in Rockville, Maryland, and the broader Montgomery County region, there's a unique and delightful destination for dessert and drinks that stands out from the rest: Class 520: Coffee & Ice cream. This local gem isn't your typical ice cream parlor; it's a vibrant and welcoming space that was the very first Thai-inspired rolled ice cream establishment to open in the state of Maryland. With a focus on handcrafted rolls made with no preservatives or stabilizers, this shop offers a fresh and unforgettable experience that appeals to all ages. It’s a place where the art of making ice cream is on full display, and the flavors are both familiar and exciting. More than just a place to get a cold treat, Class 520 has established itself as a community hub, a perfect spot to relax, study, or simply hang out with friends and family while enjoying a delicious dessert.
The core of Class 520's appeal lies in its exceptional, high-quality products. According to enthusiastic local patrons, the ice cream is simply "BEST. ICE CREAM. EVER!" One customer's review captures the essence of the experience perfectly, describing the ice cream's "nostalgic" texture, which resembles hand-churned ice cream from childhood. This unique, velvety texture is a direct result of the meticulous rolled ice cream process, where a milk-based liquid is poured onto an extremely cold metal plate, mixed with fresh ingredients, and then scraped into delicate rolls. The reviews also praise the balance of flavors, noting that the sweetness is "just right" and there's a "subtlety and delicacy in the flavor that would otherwise be very difficult to balance." This attention to detail in the flavor profile ensures that each spoonful is a perfect blend of sweet and savory notes, creating a truly premium dessert experience. The famous “Monkey Business” flavor, made with banana and Nutella, is one of the most popular items, often described as "phenomenal."
Beyond the ice cream, Class 520 is also a place that prides itself on creating a warm and inviting environment. The staff are consistently described as "nice and sweet," making every visit a pleasant one. The shop has enough seating for people to comfortably enjoy their treats, and it is known for being clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere is further enhanced by the unique touch of having Korean songs playing in the background, which adds to the cool and modern vibe of the place. The availability of ordering kiosks also adds to the efficiency and convenience, allowing customers to easily customize their orders and get their treats quickly. This blend of friendly service, a clean and welcoming space, and a touch of cultural flair makes Class 520 a destination that feels both special and comfortable for locals.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best ice cream place around! The staff were nice and sweet (no pun intended), and there was lots of variety. The ice cream itself was really good, and I’ll be going here regularly. There’s also kiosks. The place has enough seating, is clean, and has some Korean songs playing in the background. Got the Monkey Business and was phenomenal
May 14 · Laurie SongBEST. ICE CREAM. EVER!My family and I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago and we are all completely hooked! This ice cream is absolutely nostalgic, texture of which resembles the hand churn ice cream from your childhood. The flavors and toppings are simply amazing. I love that the cream is of just the right sweetness. There is subtlety and delicacy in the flavor that would otherwise be very difficult to balance. Staff is so friendly. This is our new favorite dessert place! Can’t wait to go back again soon!
June 06 · Jayneel PatelLove coming here on summer or winter.Strawberry lady is my favorite, with the oreo crumble (I love croissant)The taro smoothie is my favorite drink.Customer service is great, all of them are very nice, and care to make sure you leave happy with what they made.
January 01 · Linda H-MoynaIt was a little pricey, but nonetheless delicious!! I got the rainbow roll ice cream with gummy bears, a wafer, mini marshmallows, and whipped cream. The ice cream was sooo good, I loved the texture from the sprinkles and also the experience of being able to watch them roll it! Also, the gummy bears were so soft and chewy (Albanese, I think!). The ordering process is also done through a self ordering kiosk, which makes it very smooth and easy. I definitely would come back to try some of their other flavors!
July 13 · Jessica SunHad the Thai milk tea with boba. The tapioca pearls were undercooked, about half of them were tough and crunchy (not chewy). The milk tea was rather watery and could use more tea flavor. There was a 50 cents upcharge for all transactions (“support local fee”). The store was visibly clean but it had a weird strong bleachy smell.
