One customer recalled a trip where they were lucky enough to stop just as a nearby century-old steam-powered factory whistle began its wonderful, slow rise to a full blast. This kind of spontaneous, local flavor is what makes visiting this Dairy Queen an adventure. It’s a perfect pit stop on a road trip, offering not just a break from the highway but a genuine slice of Indiana life. Whether you’re traveling from Louisville to Indianapolis or just driving through the area, this Dairy Queen offers a moment of pure, unadulterated Americana that you won’t find at a chain restaurant or a modern franchise.
Another visitor, captivated by its vintage look, described it as "soooo cute" and "like a historical marker." They shared a conversation with a staff member who confirmed the 1951 build date and the existence of the original neon signs. The customer also recounted the temporary removal of the iconic big cone for a sidewalk project, but expressed her eagerness to return to see it re-installed. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1on our trip from Louisville to Indianapolis we were lucky enough to stop exactly when the 100+ year old steam powered Factory whistle started it's wonderful slow rise to final full blast coolness. Hooray for American entrepreneurism grit and self-determination. Yeah yeah!
June 15 · Anthony MalcakI saw this Dairy Queen location and had to stop...it was soooo cute. It was one of the older Dairy Queens...the girl said it was built in 1951 and has the original Dairy Queen neon lights and the original big cone out front. I missed the cone though because the town made them take it down so the city could pour a sidewalk. I will get back there sometime later to see the cone, which will be re-installed. I had a chili dog, chili fries and Pepsi. The service was excellent...very friendly. She told me all about the little Dairy Queen. It should be listed as a historical marker...it took me back to when I was a little girl. Oh, and it is outdoor seating only at the picnic tables. And food wise they only sell bbq sandwiches or chili dogs with chips...its mostly an ice cream stand. You gotta go see it!🍦
August 24 · Yakky DoodleWas very pleased with service and what was ordered. We want sure what time they closed so we stopped only to find out they closed in like 5 mins. But they went ahead and took our order any way. Definitely will return.
June 04 · Nicole BurgeUsually have a great experience. Just went and ordered 2 dipped strawberry cheesecake blizzards with no chocolate and extra cheesecake bites. When I received my blizzards, I was given 2 half full, partially melted blizzards with chocolate ice cream when it should be vanilla, no cheesecake bites, and barely any strawberry.
May 27 · Caleb StidamsBest ice cream, best service! These people don't skimp on the servings and they make things the RIGHT way.
