Dairy Queen Store Introduce
The Dairy Queen Store, located at 715 S Main St in Burlington, Iowa, is a familiar name for many in the community. As a part of the long-standing Dairy Queen franchise, this location serves a range of soft-serve ice cream products, shakes, and other treats that have been staples for generations. For residents of Burlington and surrounding Des Moines County, this store represents a convenient option for a quick dessert or a classic fast-food meal. However, recent customer feedback has highlighted some areas of concern regarding service and product consistency. These experiences are important to consider when planning a visit, as they offer insight into the day-to-day operations of this particular location.
The recent reviews from patrons indicate a mixed bag of experiences. One customer, visiting from out of town, described a lengthy wait to be served by a single staff member and reported feeling unwell after eating their order. This individual also mentioned receiving what they perceived as an unhelpful attitude from the server. Another customer's experience on "Free Cone Day" was particularly detailed, describing an inconsistent and frustrating encounter. This patron and several of their friends were reportedly denied free cones by a staff member, who claimed the store was either out or simply did not participate, while other friends were successfully served by a male employee earlier in the day. The review suggests a significant disconnect in staff behavior and policy enforcement, with multiple people reporting rude service from specific employees. These accounts offer a candid look at the challenges some customers have faced, which is a key part of understanding the local business landscape.
The Dairy Queen brand is internationally recognized for its signature soft-serve ice cream and unique menu items like the Blizzard. This Burlington location carries on that tradition, aiming to be a local spot for these well-known treats. However, the experiences shared by customers point to potential issues with operational consistency and employee training. The stark contrast between the service received at this downtown location versus the one on Roosevelt, as noted in a review, highlights a point of comparison that locals are using to evaluate their options. These customer narratives provide valuable information for others in the community, helping them make informed decisions about where to spend their time and money. While the franchise name is strong, the specific performance of individual locations is what truly matters to local patrons.
The Dairy Queen Store is located at 715 S Main St, Burlington, IA 52601, USA. Its position on South Main Street places it in a notable area of Burlington, making it reasonably accessible for many local residents and those traveling through the city. Being in a downtown area means it is situated among a variety of other businesses, which can be convenient for those running errands or looking for a quick bite after visiting other establishments. Accessibility for vehicles is generally straightforward, with street access to the location. However, visitors should be mindful of parking availability, as it can vary depending on the time of day and local traffic. Its central location, while convenient for some, may present different challenges compared to other locations in Burlington, such as the one on Roosevelt, which may have its own distinct accessibility features.
As a standard Dairy Queen franchise, this location typically offers a range of services centered on its classic menu.
Soft-Serve Ice Cream: The core product offering, including cones, sundaes, and DQ's famous Blizzards. These are the main draws for customers seeking a sweet, frozen treat.
Shakes and Malts: A selection of blended beverages that feature their signature soft serve. The quality of these can vary, as indicated by a review about a chocolate malt being "SUPER malty" in a different context, but they are a staple of the menu.
Fast Food Menu: Many Dairy Queen locations also serve a limited menu of hot food items, such as burgers, chicken strips, and fries, making it a dual-purpose stop for both a meal and a dessert.
Special Promotions: The store participates in company-wide promotions like "Free Cone Day," though customer experiences during these events may vary based on specific employee actions and store management.
Based on the available information, here are some key points that stand out about this particular Dairy Queen location.

Dairy Queen Store Reviews
I came here on a trip and there only one server I think her name started with an A. It took what felt like an hour just for her to take my order I think she was in the restroom and when she finally came out she gave me attitude while taking my order. once I ate my order about an hour later I felt sick I don’t think she properly washed her hands
July 01 · Ray Rojas3/19/24 was free cone day and a few of my friends kept telling me to go get one so I went and tried and they were rude to me and told me they were out which is ok if they were but I asked a couple of my other friends about it and they said when they went it was a guy on shift and he gave them the cones, then when three of my other friends tried to get one not soon after and they said they don’t do free cone day, and were rude as well. My other friend tried as well and she said they were rude to her and told her they can’t do it. It was girls running the shift that were rude. If your staff isn’t even going to give out cones because they just don’t feel like it then don’t bother even having it. And this was the downtown one. Anyone I knew that went to the one on Roosevelt had no problem.
March 20 · serena BentonDon’t waste your time getting ice cream here the ice cream is terrible. Drive a little bit farther and go to grandpa’s ice cream where they make homemade ice cream.
July 02 · Timothy Savage“Hell Yeah! Ice cream” I’ve been to this location a couple times now and the service is great.
March 10 · J ChewNice worker fast service, only serves ice cream.
