Farmer in the Dell Introduce
In the rural landscape of Michigan, a local business often becomes more than just a place to eat—it becomes a community hub. Farmer in the Dell, located in Vestaburg, is one such establishment that has carved out a unique space for itself, combining a wide selection of food and ice cream with an atmosphere that is both memorable and fun. It's the kind of place that prides itself on being a cool spot to hang out, offering a mix of savory meals and sweet treats that cater to a variety of tastes. This combination of a diverse menu and a quirky, engaging environment has made it a notable destination for both locals and those passing through the area.
Farmer in the Dell has built a reputation for its unique and interactive atmosphere. A customer review highlighted a particularly charming feature: the staff's tendency to sing the song "Farmer in the Dell" each time they receive a tip. This kind of personal touch adds a layer of fun and community engagement that sets the shop apart from other, more standard ice cream stands. However, public data also reveals that, like many businesses that undergo changes in ownership, the customer experience can shift. A review noted a change in pricing and portion sizes for sundaes since the business changed hands, which led one customer to feel the value was no longer the same. This feedback, while critical, showcases the ongoing dialogue between businesses and their customers and the importance of meeting expectations, especially for a loyal local clientele.
Farmer in the Dell is located at 8900 E Howard City Edmore Rd, Vestaburg, MI 48891. This location places it in a rural area, situated between Howard City and Edmore, making it a convenient stop for those traveling along this road in Gratiot County. The rural setting contributes to the shop’s unique, down-to-earth charm, giving it a feel that is distinct from a business located in a more urban environment.
Accessibility is a key factor for a destination business like Farmer in the Dell. Its location on a main road means it's relatively easy to find for both locals and travelers. While the provided data does not offer specific details on parking or physical accessibility, the nature of a rural, standalone establishment typically allows for easy vehicle access. The shop's presence in this part of Michigan makes it a welcome stop for those who might not have a lot of other dining or ice cream options nearby. Its role as a local gathering spot is enhanced by its accessible location, allowing people from surrounding communities to come and enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Based on customer reviews and public data, Farmer in the Dell offers a surprisingly wide variety of food and ice cream options.
- Ice Cream Selection: The shop has an "awesome... ice cream selection." The menu includes a variety of treats, such as sundaes. However, as noted in a review, a customer felt the "large" size hot fudge sundae was smaller than expected for the price. This feedback is a point of consideration for those who are particularly focused on portion size.
- Savory Food Options: Beyond ice cream, the business also offers "awesome food." While specific menu items are not provided, this indicates that customers can get a full meal, making it a versatile destination for lunch or dinner in addition to dessert.
- Singing Staff: A unique and memorable service is the staff's tradition of singing the "Farmer in the Dell" song when they receive a tip. This quirky and personal touch is a major highlight that contributes to the fun and friendly atmosphere.
- Customer Service Dialogue: The business engages with its customers through platforms like Google reviews. The owner's detailed response to a customer's pricing concern, referencing economic stats and other competitors, shows a commitment to defending their business practices and engaging in a dialogue with the community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Awesome food and ice cream selection! Cool place to hang out! My favorite part was when the staff sang "Farmer in the Dell" each time they were given a tip!
June 11 · Heather LyonsI didn't have my phone with me but that is their size large for a hot fudge sundea and it was 6.88. I would think at the the very least that's medium. They used to be pretty reasonable in price but since changing hands a year or two ago it's not the same. Next time when I'm dying for some ice cream there is a little shop right on 46 in edmore.Edit: Owner responded with economic stats in regards to the price and referenced DQ's large 10 oz sundea (Mt. Pleasant 20 miles away). In fact DQ's sundea is in fact 12oz and its 4.50 after tax (cost savings of 53%). I've used google reviews extensively traveling across the United States and Canada and its a great tool for the traveler. So travelers, you have options.
July 17 · knitrob bHands down best ice cream in 46 and probably best I've been to in years. Great creamy ice cream. Huge sizes and best part cheap
June 02 · Travis HoyleGreat ice cream and food, cool little spot to stop, relax and cool off.
June 30 · Christopher WaselGreat Ice cream!!!! Love all the options here, the list goes on and on! Pictured is the cotton candy flurry, my usual from here..😋 and if ice cream isn't your thing there is tons of other drinks n things to order.. they do a great job
