George's Water Ice Introduce
In the vibrant community of Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania, a local institution known as George's Water Ice stands as a go-to destination for those seeking a classic frozen treat. Located on Marshall Road, this shop has established itself as a place where locals can get a taste of authentic water ice and other delicious snacks. While public opinion on the business is varied, with some customers expressing high praise for the product and others having negative experiences with customer service, the fact remains that George's Water Ice holds a place in the local landscape. This article will provide an in-depth look at this establishment, focusing on its offerings, location, and what makes it a memorable—for better or for worse—part of the Upper Darby community.
For many, the first visit to George's Water Ice is a delightful culinary experience. The water ice itself is praised for its delicious taste, and the combination of flavors, such as the lemon and cherry, is a popular choice. The shop also offers a unique pairing of water ice with a pretzel and hot mustard, a classic Philadelphia combination that adds to the authentic local experience. The value for money is also a highlight, with some customers noting that a pretzel and water ice can be had for a very reasonable price. For those trying water ice for the first time, George's provides an excellent introduction to this beloved regional treat. The menu is diverse, featuring not just water ice but also hot dogs, beef patties, and other frozen snacks, catering to a wide range of cravings.
However, customer service is an area where some patrons have had negative experiences. While some reviews mention friendly staff, others describe a hostile and unprofessional environment. One customer's account of being treated rudely and feeling unwelcome is a clear example of how customer service can heavily impact a business's reputation. The experience of being ignored and spoken to with disrespect can leave a lasting negative impression, deterring new customers and leading to strong criticism. This disparity in customer experiences highlights a potential inconsistency in service, which is a crucial factor for any local business aiming to build a loyal customer base. The ideal experience for a customer is one where they feel acknowledged and respected, regardless of whether they are a new visitor or a long-time regular.
Despite these mixed reviews, George's Water Ice continues to be a part of the Upper Darby community. Its longevity and recognition suggest that for many, the quality of the product outweighs any potential service issues. Some customers have even expressed that the staff was friendly, and that they had a great experience, showing that not all interactions are negative. It's a place that people know about, a local landmark for a specific type of treat. For a community that values its unique food culture, George's Water Ice provides a taste of that tradition, which is why, for some, it remains a go-to spot for a quick, delicious snack.

June 03 · Sarah GrzegorczykThis was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. We walked in for the first time genuinely excited to try most of their menu after hearing good things. That excitement was crushed immediately. The tall African guy behind the counter didn’t even acknowledge us no “hello,” no “welcome,” nothing. Just a cold, rude “What do you want?” like we were bothering him.We politely said we needed a moment to look over the menu, and instead of giving us basic courtesy, he yelled out “Who’s ordering next?” like we didn’t exist. The disrespect was loud and clear. It felt hostile, unprofessional, and downright nasty. We were so uncomfortable we just turned around and walked out.If this is how they treat new customers, I’d hate to see how they treat regulars. Absolutely disgusting attitude. I will never spend a dime here, and I’ll make sure everyone I know stays far away too. Respect goes a long way clearly, this place hasn’t learned that.
July 04 · Kayla’h SHere me when I tell you I don't even like pretzels but this pretzel was so warm and soft and fresh mago passion fruit water ice was amazing !! Mind you This is yesterdays picture im just coming back from there again today that's how good it was 🥹🥹 and the lady and young guy were also nice
June 22 · J'Anna CurtisCame in today because my son has been begging me to take him here. I ordered 2 hotdogs, a small water ice, small ice cream cup, 2 pizza pretzels. When I added it all up according to their displayed prices it came to 14.75. The guy told me 16 something. So I'm like okay, then he says "oh with tax it's 18 something". And refused me a receipt (I payed by card) Reallllly? I'm not trying to be a Karen, but that's false advertising and I will be filing a legal complaint with the attorney general for shady business practices. 6 cents on the dollar still doesn't add up to 18 something for what I ordered. I see I'm not the only one that has this issue. It's sad but I remember when George first opened. It was amazing when I was in high school. I suggest he gets people who actually want work in there not these people that lie about prices to put in their own tip and pocket your money 🙄 I added pictures of the prices, look at what I ordered and tell me if I'm wrongResponse to Owner response:Lies! And I encourage you to look on the camera to see what I was served. My total came to 14.75And my order WAS as FOLLOWS (according to YOUR displayed menu);2 pizza pretzels $72 hotdogs $3 (he said he did not have hot sausage) so that's why I ordered the DOG.1 small waterice 2.001 small cup ice cream 2.75🚨 Which the total equals $14.75 🚨He told me the total was 16.75 I questioned "did the prices go up?" He said no, even THOUGH they were different than what was displayed, but I did not make a big deal LIKE I CAN, because my child really has been begging for it. He then told me WITH TAX IT is 18 something. The total according to YOUR DISPLAYED MENU is OBVIOUSLY different than what you have in your POS system. Then even still, THE "folks" behind me were not charged tax. I know this because I know them and we all had plans to go there. Anyways, as far as receipts go, that is another lie, because I watched receipts coming out of the printer, but I was lied to, straight to my face. I notice When "different" people come in there, they are charged "different" prices. But that's okay, because I will not be back to be another victim of your business's shady price gouging for certain groups of people and I definitely am not coming back to argue with anybody about basic math and false advertising. I'm only 1 person so it will not hurt you anyway. Just stating my experience.
September 14 · **George’s is a WATER ICE STAPLE in the Upper Darby/Delco/Philly area! The food is amazing! Have been going there since they opened and will continue to do so. They fill your cup above and beyond the top, so you’re always served like you bought the next size up! They finally accept card payments now. If you want REAL WATER ICE at VERY INEXPENSIVE PRICES, come here! (Extremely better than that certain chain water ice brand that starts with a R—in terms of quality, taste, and price!) And try the warm pretzels too!
