Gourmet Ice Cream: Glace NY offers a selection of high-quality, delicious ice cream flavors. Customers rave about the richness and smoothness of their chocolate flavors. Other potential flavors mentioned in reports include pistachio, British banana pie banoffee, and cold brew, suggesting a creative and rotating menu. They also offer soft serve.
Signature Hot Chocolates: A major highlight and widely recognized offering is their range of luxurious hot chocolates. The "Frozen S’mores Hot Chocolate" is particularly popular, known for its unique texture, rich flavor, toasted marshmallow twist, and artistic presentation (often with a marshmallow halo rim). Other variations like the Oreo hot chocolate and the Britney Brûlée (a collaboration benefiting The Trevor Project, blending dark chocolate, espresso, and signature toasted marshmallow fluff) are also offered, showcasing their innovative approach to this classic beverage.
Sundaes and Desserts: Glace NY provides a variety of elaborate desserts, including sundaes and classic treats like Eton Mess and Baked Alaska. Seasonal sundaes, such as the lemon passionfruit sundae (featuring lemon Greek yogurt soft serve, passionfruit curd, and meringue pieces), demonstrate their creativity and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Gluten-Free Options: Notably, all ice cream ingredients at Glace, including their cones, are reportedly gluten-free. This commitment stems from its origins linked to Eli Zabar's gluten-free Noglu, making it a highly inclusive option for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities.
Candy Shop Integration: Glace has expanded to include a connected candy shop at 1266 Madison Avenue, offering a wide selection of candies from various countries. Customers can even mix these candies into their ice cream on a chilled marble slab, providing a custom dessert experience.
Ice Cream Sandwiches (Macwichs): The menu also features "Macwichs," which are ice cream sandwiches made with large French macarons, available in flavors like pistachio, chocolate, vanilla, Nutella, vanilla almond crunch, and coffee.

Unique and Delicious Frozen S’mores Hot Chocolate: This signature drink is a standout, widely praised for its incredible flavor, perfect balance of richness and sweetness, and unique toasted marshmallow element. It's often highlighted as a must-try.
High-Quality Ingredients and Flavors: Customers consistently note the superior quality of the ice cream and hot chocolate, describing them as "delicious," "rich," "smooth," and "satisfying every time." The focus on artisanal ingredients, sometimes even from Eli Zabar's rooftop greenhouse (e.g., Meyer lemons), underscores this commitment.
Aesthetically Pleasing and Instagram-Worthy Creations: Many of Glace NY's offerings are not only tasty but also visually stunning, contributing to their social media popularity. This aesthetic appeal enhances the overall indulgence.
Entirely Gluten-Free Ice Cream: A significant highlight is that all ice cream and cones are gluten-free, providing a safe and delicious option for those with celiac or gluten intolerance, without overtly advertising it as a primary feature.
Friendly and Attentive Service: The staff is consistently described as "super friendly and attentive," making the customer experience enjoyable and welcoming. This positive interaction is a frequently praised aspect of the shop.

Glace NY on Madison Avenue is exceptionally well-suited for New Yorkers, offering a blend of sophistication, quality, and unique indulgence that aligns perfectly with the city's discerning palate. It transcends the typical ice cream shop, becoming a true destination for gourmet desserts on the Upper East Side.
One of the most compelling reasons for its local appeal is its commitment to high-quality, delicious products. New Yorkers appreciate establishments that consistently deliver on taste and texture, and Glace NY's "amazing" chocolate flavors, "delicious and unique" Frozen S’mores Hot Chocolate, and other creative confections clearly hit the mark. The fact that the ice cream and cones are entirely gluten-free, stemming from the legacy of Noglu, is a significant, understated benefit for a substantial portion of the local population with dietary restrictions. This inclusivity, without compromising on flavor, is highly valued.
The strategic location on Madison Avenue, in the heart of the Upper East Side, makes it highly accessible for residents of the neighborhood as well as those commuting or visiting nearby cultural institutions. It's a convenient spot for a treat while "strolling the city on a sunny day" or for a pick-me-up after shopping or museum visits. The expansion to include a larger ice cream shop next door and a connected candy store at the original location further cements its presence as a comprehensive dessert hub, offering more space and more options for repeat visits.
Beyond the products, the overall experience at Glace NY contributes to its local suitability. The "aesthetic and well put together" environment, coupled with "super friendly and attentive" staff, creates a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. New Yorkers, while often busy, appreciate moments of elevated service and a comfortable setting in which to enjoy their treats. This positive interaction encourages loyalty and transforms a simple purchase into a memorable part of their day. While some specialty items like the hot chocolate might be considered a "splurge," the general consensus is that the quality and experience are "definitely worth it," a sentiment that resonates with New Yorkers who are willing to pay for exceptional craftsmanship.
In conclusion, Glace NY offers more than just ice cream; it provides a gourmet dessert experience that meets the high standards of New York City locals. Its blend of innovative flavors, high-quality ingredients (including gluten-free options), convenient location, and excellent service makes it an ideal and cherished spot for anyone on the Upper East Side looking to indulge their sweet tooth.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had an excellent Frozen S’mores Hot Chocolate at Glace – absolutely delicious and unique! The texture and flavor were spot on, perfectly balancing the rich chocolate with the toasted marshmallow twist. On top of that, the service was amazing – super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!
July 22 · Alexander FriessneggThis ice cream shop is the perfect treat while strolling the city on a sunny day. Their chocolate flavors are especially amazing—rich, smooth, and satisfying every time. Great spot to cool down and indulge your sweet tooth!
June 16 · Alexa PatelWas curious about the hype. Would not wait in line for this but the hot chocolate was actually quite nice. Not too thick or thin, not too sweet or bitter. Very drinkable. Whipped cream was good. I could do without the torched marshmallows ring but I guess that’s their thing. It starts at $11 so be prepared for that. It’s not a ton of hot chocolate but it hits the spot for a sweet treat.
May 28 · the bbWe stopped at Glace for dessert and were thrilled with what we found. Their brown butter soft-serve with matcha sauce was incredible—rich, creamy, and beautifully balanced. We also tried a scoop of stracciatella, which held its own among the more adventurous flavors. They offer a wide variety of choices like crème brûlée, pistachio, cookies & crema, and even a “frozen hot chocolate” topped with marshmallows. While that last one wasn’t our favorite—it felt more like a chocolate slushie than a dessert—the staff were generous with samples and exceptionally friendly. It’s rare to find a place with both high-quality products and excellent service.
June 26 · Ozge UstundagThis place was an absolute highlight of my trip to New York! If you’re visiting during the winter months, it’s the perfect spot to warm up with a unique and indulgent treat. Their signature hot chocolate is unlike anything I’ve ever had before – it’s rich, velvety, and deeply chocolatey, with a texture that’s slightly thick, making every sip feel like pure decadence. The marshmallow cream topping is out of this world – soft, fluffy, and melts beautifully into the drink. You also get a wide variety of toppings to customize your drink to your liking, which adds to the fun and makes it feel truly special. If you’re a fan of ice cream, you’ll love their options, too! The ice cream is of exceptional quality, with plenty of flavors to choose from, allowing you to mix and match with the hot chocolate or enjoy it on its own. The ability to create different combinations makes it a spot you’ll want to visit more than once.Prices range between $12-15, which I found to be absolutely fair given the premium quality and the experience. Despite the high demand, the service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The staff was well-organized, and even with a line, it moved quickly. One thing to note: there aren’t any seating areas or places to stand and enjoy your drink inside the shop, so be prepared to take it to go. That said, the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, and the presentation of the drinks is so beautiful you’ll want to snap a picture before diving in.If you’re in New York, especially during the colder months, this is an absolute must-try! It’s not just a drink – it’s an experience. Whether you’re a hot chocolate enthusiast or just looking for something special, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended!
