For the residents of Michigan, particularly those in Allen Park and surrounding Downriver communities, Grants Soft Serve offers a long-standing tradition of classic frozen treats. Despite recent challenges associated with a change in ownership, its core offerings and historical presence make it a suitable option for locals seeking familiar ice cream delights.
Firstly, Grants Soft Serve caters directly to those who appreciate the simple pleasure of soft serve ice cream and richer custard. This style of frozen dessert holds a special place in many Michiganders' hearts, evoking memories of warm summer days and casual outings. The availability of "Artic Swirls" further enhances this appeal by allowing for customization, where patrons can blend their favorite mix-ins for a personalized treat. This focus on a classic, beloved dessert format ensures it remains a go-to for many.
Secondly, its history as a long-standing establishment in Allen Park provides a sense of community familiarity and continuity. For "many years," Grants has been a part of the local fabric, and its re-opening under new owners signals an intent to continue serving the community. This legacy can foster loyalty among locals who have fond memories of visiting the shop in the past. Supporting such a local business contributes to the unique character of Allen Park.
However, it is crucial for locals to acknowledge the recent customer feedback regarding operational inconsistencies. Reports of inaccurate online hours leading to wasted trips, and concerns about portion sizes (e.g., getting a medium portion for a large price) indicate that the new ownership may still be working through adjustments and training. While the review suggests giving "the benefit of the doubt the employees are new," these issues can significantly impact customer satisfaction. For Michiganders planning a visit, managing expectations and, importantly, calling ahead to confirm hours, would be a prudent step to ensure a positive experience. Checking your order at the window if getting it to go might also be advisable.
Despite these recent operational challenges, the fundamental appeal of Grants Soft Serve as a purveyor of classic soft serve and custard remains. For residents who value supporting local businesses and enjoy these traditional frozen treats, it continues to be a viable option.
In conclusion, Grants Soft Serve in Allen Park holds potential as a cherished local spot for soft serve and custard enthusiasts in Michigan. While new ownership navigates its initial phase, offering familiar favorites and a convenient location, locals should be mindful of current operational feedback. We encourage Michiganders to use the provided contact information to plan their visit thoughtfully and help Grants Soft Serve settle into its new chapter.

October 30 · ryan wyngardI've been going to Grant's for many years, and happy to see they have re-opened with new owners. So gave them a try last night, I ordered 1 large artic swirl as I have in the past with custard, ( took it go to last night ) realized when I opened it when I got home, it was vanilla ice cream and filled only 3/4 the way full. So basically I got a medium for the large price in a large cup. I was very disappointed. I will give them the benefit of the doubt the employees are new, but next time I will not get it to go and will go back to the window if it's not what I ordered.
August 01 · Patty BrandemihlNormally love this place. Today at 5 I ordered. We are the only people there. Then she tells us it will be a few because "they just opened," but the hours say noon. Then tells us "the ice cream will be out in a few." After waiting 5 minutes she served me a already melting, not even frozen cone. If you didn't have a certain flavor just say that. I ordered a medium but was served a half melting small. Which I threw away. Waste of money and time
May 18 · Jeremy GrayGreat local ice cream place that has been in the neighborhood for a long time. They have better prices than someplace like dairy Queen. They also have some regular food options as well. The artic swirls there are the best. It is soft serve ice cream with 3 mix ins. They have so many different options for toppings to mix in it is hard to make a choice! This place is awesome!
July 05 · Mike WalkerIve been going there my whole life and its always nice seeing amazing people give you delicious ice cream. On a bad note I dislike them because I've been trying to diet for the passed 3 years, and I love close by. At least I'm burning calories.
