Hibbard's Custard Introduce
For those of us living in Western New York, especially in and around the charming village of Lewiston, there are certain local institutions that are simply legendary. Hibbard's Custard is undeniably one of them. For decades, this iconic establishment has been serving up its signature frozen custard, a treat so rich and creamy that it has earned a dedicated following and a reputation as a must-visit spot for anyone with a sweet tooth in the region. This isn't just an ice cream shop; it's a taste of local history and a beloved summer tradition.
Hibbard's Custard prides itself on its distinct product: real frozen custard. What sets custard apart from traditional ice cream is its higher butterfat content and the inclusion of egg yolks, resulting in a denser, smoother, and incredibly creamy texture with less air. This difference is precisely what customers rave about, describing it as "rich and creamy." While one customer noted a perceived small size for the price, the consensus among loyal patrons is that the quality and unique experience of Hibbard's custard justify its value. They offer a "large selection of flavors," ranging from their daily "core four" to exciting "special" combinations, ensuring there's always something new and delicious to try. This commitment to quality and variety is why Hibbard's has maintained its iconic status for over 85 years, truly defining the "creamy goodness" they serve.
Hibbard's Custard is conveniently located at 105 Portage Rd, Lewiston, NY 14092, USA. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The size of the scoop doesn't justify the price. I've had maybe four spoonfuls of this cup for $5.75. I was so shocked when it was handed to me that I went back to look at the sign to ensure that it was the right price for a "medium."
June 30 · D KnightIt really doesn't get better than Hibbard's custard! If you are a fan of custard and in Western New York, this is the place to be. It's rich and creamy with a large selection of flavors. Yes, you can stick to the traditional 🍦 vanilla, chocolate or combo, but why not take a step on the wild side and get a flavor that you have only had in traditional hard ice cream🍨. Black cherry is a common favorite, but I tend to favor the special that can be anything type of delicious combination bringing pure pleasure to your taste buds🥰
July 11 · MB POur custard and ice cream sundae were both delicious, and we’ll return. That said, here’s my 2 cents:The one star is left specifically for the very negative behavior we received at the counter, which was discourteous, rude & outright angry. All we wanted was ice cream. We were polite and courteous in placing our order and expected the same in return. If your employee has an issue providing hospitality to guests who look different from them, perhaps hospitality is not their metier?Or was our experience reflective of the views & policies of mgmt?Having a bad day may explain behavior but it doesn’t excuse it.Thanks.
July 10 · Forrest ParkerSome of the Best ice cream I ever had. We saw this place and visited it first time in 2019. We were staying at Art Park motel right next block and walked to have ice cream every night. We were driving back from Niagara in July 2025 and we drove extra 20 minutes to visit again.Outside seating only. Be mindful that they have two different menus. One that they serve you there in a cup or cone. The other menu is that they sell only in to-go pints. Both menus have some different flavors and some common ones. There is plenty of parking there. Also a park adjacent to it.
July 06 · Yogi AminSuch delicious frozen custard! It’s so creamy. They also serve Perry’s ice cream. Definitely get the custard. There is lots of outdoor seating, tables/benches. Been coming here for years. Must stop here if you are in Lewiston during the summer.
