★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1John’s Water Ice near Fairmount is a summer miracle! We LOVE John’s and regularly trek down to south Philly for it, but they just opened an outpost on Callowhill. We visited for the first time yesterday, and every flavor we had was refreshing and delicious as usual. We will be regulars all summer long!
April 28 · Marisa JonesI didn't realize that this was going to be a pop-up and not their main location (I think a lot of the other reviews may not be commenting on the right location?). It's a super super pop-up with just a picnic table collecting money and someone scooping pretty limited flavors from behind the counter. It's water ice-nothing unexpected or terribly special. The main location is probably more interesting.
July 07 · Andrew KanouseI recently visited John’s in Callowhill and I can confidently say it's the best water ice I've ever had! The owner, Nick, was incredibly friendly and so fun to talk to. He told us how they use fresh fruit juice in their water ice, which they make every morning. He also had us try one of their pretzel sticks for dipping, and it was a game-changer — just like dipping french fries into a milkshake , but even better! If you're in the area, don't miss out on this gem!!
May 10 · Casie SalvadoreWent on an afternoon and it wasn’t even open. In fact, on the inside it looked more like a popup than an actual store. I'm sure this place is good (other locations seemed highly recommended), I just don’t think it’s good form to have a listing on Google with incorrect hours and all these supposedly great reviews, come to find it’s not even open (or operational?)Edit: Also, it wasn't even raining when I went, so my point stands that this place should update its hours as well as not leave signage on the side walk indicating it's open if it's not
July 08 · Chrisfinally a johns water ice in our neighborhood! every flavor was amazing, and mike was a pleasure to talk to. very excited to make this a weekly treat.
