Laker Shakes' reputation is built on a dual promise: delicious frozen treats and convenient local products. The highlight for many is the ice cream, which is a key part of the experience. The atmosphere at Laker Shakes is designed to be a pleasant and relaxing experience. One of the standout features is the shaded seating area, which provides a comfortable place to enjoy a treat without being overwhelmed by crowds. This is a significant advantage, especially for those who find more popular tourist towns to be "no longer as enjoyable to visit" due to their growing size. The market's friendly and casual vibe makes it a place where you can unwind and take in the natural beauty of the area. As one reviewer noted, the only downside is that it's so good, you want to keep it a secret to avoid a crowd. This sentiment speaks volumes about the quality and peacefulness of the experience that Laker Shakes provides, making it a true hidden gem in the heart of Maple City.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been going to the Glen Arbor area for about 30 years and somehow have managed to overlook this place. I’m glad I finally found it! My family would normally get ice cream in Glen Arbor but the town has swelled over the years and is no longer as enjoyable to visit. Laker Shakes wasn’t overly busy and the shaded sitting area was a nice place to enjoy a nice treat. Prices are definitely on the expensive side but worth the splurge. I would recommend that everyone visit but I don’t want to encourage a crowd 😉
July 18 · Benjamin MoeEvery time I stop by Laker Shakes I order my favorite ice cream and pick up a few groceries. So convenient to have a perfect store in the neighborhood! What a cute local store. Thanks for being there for our family!
September 23 · Barbara AronDo not go here! I’m not one to post reviews, but I love GA and want to recommend Leelanau Roasting for shakes & if you want Moomers (like this place sells), they have it at Anderson’s grocery store for half the cost. Even Pinecone in the summer is better than here. She repeatedly slammed the ice cream window in our face to the point where it bounced back a few times. She acted like we had wronged her from the moment we entered (and were promptly asked to go outside to order ice cream even though we wanted to buy other items). Seriously though, even if you think you can handle her miserable demeanor, the ice cream isn’t even worth it. We had luke warm milkshakes that were 90% milk, 10% ice cream.
September 23 · Olivia Lakerude and upsetting experience. The woman working was more than unkind. Do not bring your family to this establishment, even in the off-season. Also, the milkshakes are warm — the other reviews are correct.
September 21 · Tommy SimonA little overpriced for the quality. Cookies and Cream had freezer burn and was covered in ice crystals. Chocolate shake tasted like it was made with chocolate powder.Edit to reply: I had a scoop of ice cream which was definitely freezer burned. We ordered a chocolate shake which I assumed would have been made with the chocolate ice cream you serve but it definitely tasted bad. Can't really return ice cream that we left with and ate.. so not sure what you mean in your reply. The overall quality of everything we ordered was below the price you were selling it at.
