Las Delicias de Michoacan Introduce
Located in the heart of Cicero, Illinois, Las Delicias de Michoacan is a local institution that offers a vibrant and authentic taste of Mexican culture through its diverse menu of desserts and snacks. This shop is a go-to spot for residents seeking a genuine experience, with a wide array of offerings that go beyond a simple scoop of ice cream. The name itself, "The Delights of Michoacan," speaks to a dedication to traditional recipes and flavors that transport customers south of the border with every bite. The shop serves as a community hub where people can gather and enjoy a taste of home or explore new culinary traditions.
The core of Las Delicias de Michoacan’s appeal lies in its commitment to providing a rich and varied menu. While some customers have noted issues with the readiness of certain fruits or the concentration of flavors in their fresh waters, the shop's broad selection is a significant draw. It’s a place where you can find traditional ice cream scoops and bars, alongside popular Mexican street food-inspired items like elote and fruit cups. The shop aims to be a one-stop-shop for a variety of cravings, making it a convenient option for families and individuals with diverse tastes.
However, it is important to acknowledge that customer experiences at this location can be mixed. One review highlighted a serious concern regarding a racially-charged encounter with a staff member, which led to a refusal to remake an order or offer a refund. This is a significant issue that directly impacts the experience for some members of the community and is a point of contention for many. On the other hand, another review praises the shop for its reasonable prices, fresh ice cream scoops and bars, even while noting issues with the ripeness of fruit in other items. This range of feedback reflects the varying nature of customer service and product consistency that can be found at the establishment.
The shop's presence in a predominantly Hispanic community is a key part of its identity. According to recent census data, Cicero has a significant Hispanic population, and businesses like Las Delicias de Michoacan play a vital role in providing familiar flavors and a sense of cultural connection. The shop is a place where many can feel at home and enjoy the desserts they grew up with. This cultural relevance, combined with a menu that is both extensive and authentic, makes it an important part of the local fabric, even as it faces criticism regarding specific operational and customer service issues.
---Las Delicias de Michoacan is located at 4845 W 14th St, Cicero, IL 60804, USA. This location places it in a residential and commercial part of Cicero, a town known for its large and vibrant Hispanic community. The shop’s position on West 14th Street makes it accessible to locals who live in the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as those who are traveling through the area.
The accessibility of this location is a key factor in its appeal. For those driving, street parking is typically available in the area, allowing for a relatively easy stop. The neighborhood is well-served by public transportation, with bus routes that provide convenient access for customers who do not have a car. Its placement within a close-knit community makes it a familiar and convenient spot for a quick treat or a family outing.
However, it is worth noting that the shop is not located on a major thoroughfare, which means it may be more of a destination for those who live locally rather than for those passing by from other parts of the city. For local residents, this is a positive, as it reinforces the shop's role as a neighborhood gem. The accessibility and community integration are central to its identity and success.
For customers in Cicero, the shop's location is a significant benefit, as it provides a convenient and local option for authentic Mexican treats. This proximity and ease of access help to cement its status as a beloved part of the community, despite the criticisms raised by some customers.
---Las Delicias de Michoacan offers a wide variety of services and products centered around authentic Mexican desserts and snacks. Here is a list of what you can expect:
- A selection of ice cream scoops and bars (paletas), which customers praise for being good.
- Fresh fruit cups, though customers have noted that the ripeness of the fruit can be inconsistent.
- Yogurt with fruit, which is noted to be okay, even when the fruit is not fully ripe.
- A variety of fresh waters, though some customers have found them to be lacking in flavor concentration and have noted a strange lingering taste.
- A range of other Mexican treats and snacks, providing a comprehensive menu.
The shop aims to be a one-stop-shop for a wide range of cravings, though the consistency of the products can vary.
---Las Delicias de Michoacan has a few key features and highlights that make it stand out. However, these are often balanced by criticisms from some customers. Here is a summary of its key aspects:
- Authentic Mexican Offerings: The shop is a source for traditional Mexican desserts and snacks, which is a major draw for the local community.
- Reasonable Prices: At least one customer review mentions that the prices are "reasonable," making the treats an accessible option for many.
- Good Ice Cream and Popsicles: The ice cream scoops and bars are generally well-liked by customers, suggesting that this is a strong point for the business.
- Inconsistent Product Quality: A significant highlight, though not a positive one, is the inconsistent quality of products. Customers have noted that fruit in cups and fresh waters is not always ready or concentrated enough.
- Customer Service Concerns: A serious concern highlighted in a review is a negative customer service experience that included allegations of racial prejudice and a refusal to resolve a mistake.
These features present a mixed picture of the business, with the positive aspects of authentic food and reasonable prices being weighed against concerns about product consistency and customer service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Seen this post on fb and decided to share in reviews because if your being racist and refusing refund because of a mistake u the worker made then people shouldn’t be eating here. To my fellow A.A stop bringing your dollars to establishments like this meaning people who don’t like us will talk about us in their language in our face and smile all while still taking our dollars instead of just remaking the order or refunding her she got unprofessionalism and lip we always promote their businesses but they never promote ours let along spend they money with us so why are we with them? Do better
April 12 · Tangier wrightPlace has reasonable prices, we like the ice cream scoops and bars, we ordered a fruit cup but the fruit was not ready mango was not ready as well a the pineapple. Same for the yogurt fruit ws not ready but the yogurt itself was okay. We had a lime chia and habicus fresh water, we felt they needed more concintrated flavor and for some reason the waters had a lingering carrot flavor we were a bit confused we figured that they must have made it in the same blender or something.
March 21 · FoeorI love the food options here, crazy good range and everything is delicious. I’ve gotten yogurts, fruit, corn, tortas, corn dogs, hot dogs, and the list goes on. I simply can’t get enough
June 04 · Cee JayToday I waited with my child after school for some ice cream on a nice day. There was approximately 6 people in front of me and we waited 40 minutes and still they haven’t got to me. I was finally next but the lady in front of me ordered a bunch of stuff. Only 2 girls there. A male coming back and forth reloading the ice cream. Not once did he help. Lady in the back cooking didn’t come out to help unless something had to be cooked. So finally we are next and another 15 minutes pass and still nothing because the one worker out of the two workers was having trouble with the credit card machine. 40 freaking minutes and we just walked out. Like they no that’s a business near schools why not higher more staff and why didn’t the people in the back help to bring that line down. Ridiculous. 40 minutes of nothing. It’s a shame.
April 24 · Annette LopezI've been coming here since they opened at their first location. Definitely not the same service, starting with the (male) owner. Also, tell your staff not to force the 5th yogurt in the trays. She broke the lids on 2 of my yogurts, and they spilled all over my car. I went back, and they only wanted to refill one cup.The worker called the owner, and the owner said to refill only one cup.I purchased it again only because it was for my children. It was their birthday. But thank you, we will not go back.
