Lickety Splitz Handcrafted Ice Cream focuses on providing a range of frozen desserts, with a particular emphasis on customization and catering to different preferences. Based on available information, their services typically include:
- Handcrafted Ice Cream: The core offering is their "home made ice-cream." This suggests an artisanal approach, with ice cream prepared on-site or with specific attention to quality ingredients and small-batch production.
- Milkshakes: In addition to scooped ice cream, they offer milkshakes, a popular choice for those desiring a blended, drinkable treat, as noted by a customer who purchased one for their granddaughter. Their menu mentions a variety of milkshake flavors, including classic options like Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry, as well as more unique ones like Peanut Butter and Banana.
- Soft Serve Options: Lickety Splitz also offers an extensive selection of soft serve flavors. Their online menu lists over 24 flavors, ranging from traditional Vanilla, Chocolate, and Twist to more adventurous options like Cotton Candy, Peanut Butter, Blackberry, Blueberry, Creamicle, and various fruit and seasonal flavors like Pumpkin and Egg Nog. They also feature Orange & Orange-Vanilla Twist.
- Sherbet and Dole Whip: For those seeking alternatives to traditional ice cream, they provide sherbet (Cherry, Lemon Lime, Orange, Blue Raspberry) and Dole Whip (Pineapple, Strawberry, and Pineapple Strawberry Twist), catering to a broader range of dietary needs or preferences for lighter, fruit-based desserts.
- Toppings and Add-ons: Customers can customize their treats with jimmies (sprinkles) or cone dips, and a variety of additional toppings, allowing for personalized creations.
- Custom Cakes: Lickety Splitz also offers custom cakes for any occasion, providing an online order form for convenience. This expands their offerings beyond immediate consumption to include celebratory desserts.
- Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free Options: The business aims to provide options for customers with dietary restrictions. While one review specifically mentioned issues with the quality of the "dairy free ice cream" (describing it as "freezer burnt" and "chewy tasting"), the intention to offer these alternatives is a service provided. They also explicitly offer gluten-free varieties.
- Friendly Staff: Reviews consistently highlight the pleasant and kind demeanor of the staff, indicating a commitment to good customer service. The employees were noted for checking labels for allergens and being generally "very pleasant."
Lickety Splitz Handcrafted Ice Cream in Maple Shade, NJ, offers several features that contribute to its appeal, alongside some areas that, according to customer feedback, warrant attention.
- "Handcrafted" and "Homemade" Ice Cream: The primary highlight is the emphasis on "handcrafted" and "homemade" ice cream. This suggests a dedication to quality ingredients and an artisanal approach to production, which typically results in richer flavors and a superior texture compared to mass-produced ice cream. Some online discussions by locals confirm that the ice cream is made on-site.
- Extensive Flavor Variety: Lickety Splitz boasts an impressive array of soft serve flavors (over 24), alongside hard ice cream options, sherbets, and Dole Whip. This wide selection caters to diverse palates and encourages repeat visits to explore new tastes.
- Dietary Accommodation Attempts: The effort to provide dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream options is a significant feature, aiming to make their treats accessible to a wider customer base, including those with allergies or dietary restrictions. This shows an understanding of modern consumer needs, even if execution can sometimes be challenging, as noted in a review about the dairy-free product's quality.
- Located within Laurel Lanes: Its unique location inside a bowling alley provides a distinctive environment. This can be a major convenience for families or groups already at Laurel Lanes for entertainment, offering a seamless transition from recreation to refreshment. It also creates a "family-friendly atmosphere with a bar and eat-in tables," as one source describes it.
- Friendly and Accommodating Staff: Despite any product-related issues, the staff consistently receives high praise for being "so kind," "very pleasant," and willing to "checked labels" for allergy concerns. This commitment to positive customer interaction significantly enhances the overall experience.
- Custom Cake Options: The ability to order custom ice cream cakes for special occasions adds another dimension to their offerings, making them a one-stop shop for celebratory desserts.
However, it is important to acknowledge areas of concern raised by customer reviews:
- Inconsistent Quality of Dairy-Free Options: A direct review pointed out that "The dairy free ice cream seemed to have been thawed and refrozen multiple times as it was completely freezer burnt" and tasted "chewy." This indicates a potential quality control issue with specific products, which could be a significant detractor for customers relying on these options.
- "False Advertising" Regarding Ingredients: The same reviewer expressed being "upset about the false advertising" concerning the absence of added colors, stating they "found that not to be true." This highlights a need for transparent and accurate ingredient information, especially when catering to allergy-conscious customers.
- Discrepancy in Website Information: The review implies a mismatch between information on their website and the actual product/ingredients available, which can be frustrating for customers with specific dietary requirements who research beforehand.

The core appeal of Lickety Splitz lies in its claim of "handcrafted" and "homemade" ice cream, which resonates with locals who appreciate artisanal quality over mass production. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was here yesterday for a surprise birthday party. An Yes, we definitely had to get some of the home made ice-cream. A milkshake for my granddaughter and ice-cream for the kids.
April 07 · Tracy GoodenWe chose this ice cream shop on our vacation with our two allergies in mind. Red dye #40 and dairy. The website promised handmade ice cream without added colors. Unfortunately upon arrival we found that not to be true. The two girls working were so kind and checked labels for us. The dairy free ice cream seemed to have been thawed and refrozen multiple times as it was completely freezer burnt. The environment was nice and clean, and again the staff were very pleasant. I’m just upset about the false advertising and bad, chewy tasting dairy free ice cream.
June 24 · Avery JonesCame here on a whim, all the flavors we tried were delicious! Milk and Cookies in particular tasted incredible. Staff was really nice and they give you a very generous amount of ice cream for the price. Looking forward to trying alcohol-infused flavors in the future.

Not only do they serve up some seriously delicious ice cream, but they also offer ICE CREAM FLIGHTS! That's right, you can try a variety of their mouth-watering flavors all in one go!I loved being able to mix and match different flavors like their cookie dough, mocha chip, and cannoli.
