★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have tried hundreds of ice cream places all over the state and Mercers is by far our number one favorite. We will go for a drive to just get Mercers. You can tell it’s homemade. Their vanilla and chocolate ice cream is the absolute best. There is no better!! They have many flavors, soft serve, wine ice cream, ice cream cakes and more. Also fresh waffle cones. You have to stop! Have been going for over 10+ years.
August 21 · KateI have such a great, memorable experience shopping here. I found this ice cream shop over a year ago when I was looking around on Google Maps. I was excited to try their wine Ice Cream which is very unique. I have visited almost 50 creamiest and ice cream shops in the East Coast, and wine Ice cream is very unique. This is the 2nd place that sell wine Ice cream. The Mercer's wine Ice cream is not creamy as I had expected. It is more like a creamy sorbet. I sampled 5 different flavors are of wine Ice cream and surprisingly, the ones I picked out before arriving were the ones I like most. For someone who doesn't drink much, almost rarely, I can taste the wine in the ice cream. I bought 10 pints of strawberry sparkling champagne, cherry Merlot, port wine, and peach White Zinfandel. I had a scoop of peach White Zinfandel while I was there. It was very light and I say to eat. It doesn't taste ice cream because it is not creamy. Not sure how much milk was used to make it. It reminded me of ice, sorbet, very light - less creamy ice cream. It was good. What impressed me during my visit was... My hotel is 30mins away and I forgot to pack ice before stopping by. Even this f I did bring ice, running around all day might have melted the ice before arriving at the ice cream shop anyway. The young ladies were so helpful. They didn't have ice nor dry ice. They offered the ice they can scrapped off the interior wall to f the freezer. I was really surprised and pleased by how they were willing to go above and beyond to help me out. They were also very patience. It was my first time there and they offered my sample of all the wine Ice cream they had available for sale by the scoop, all 5. I wish customer service is offered at the superior level everywhere. Thank you!!! Oh I didn't have a chance to try their regular ice cream. I already stopped at an ice cream place a couple of hours before coming here. I was so full! I might stop by tomorrow on my way back from Alexandria Bay if it is not too late when I return to the area.
September 13 · Tilly LoVery clean facility, quick service, nice servers, great ice cream, good prices, plenty of parking, ample seating, why go anywhere else?
July 06 · sheep herder10/09/24 UPDATE: The owner of Mercer's Dairy reached out to me shortly after I posted my review below and requested more information about the ice cream that I purchased, so I contacted her and provided the information she requested. She was very pleasant and apologized if that ice cream didn't meet their high standards for quality. She then graciously offered to refund my purchase price, and I accepted. Based on how this experience ended up, I've updated the review rating, and will try their ice cream again in the future. My sincere thanks and kudos to Ruthie for standing behind the quality of her ice cream products. That's something you don't experience very often these days.10/07/24: I'd read all the great reviews, and heard that Mercer's ice cream is the stuff that legends are made of, so we decided to stop and buy some ice cream there on our way home on a recent Sunday. We bought a half-gallon of Adirondack Brownie ice cream, and we even bought some dry ice there just to be sure the ice cream didn't melt on the way home. The ice cream was still frozen when we got home, and it went right into our freezer and stayed there until we took it out that evening. Sadly, what's in this half-gallon carton is anything but rich ice cream. It's very grainy, and looks and tastes like it has ice crystals or freezer burn. It has the taste and consistency of ice milk, definitely not like any ice cream we've ever had. That's very disappointing considering we paid a premium price and expected a premium product. The expiration date is in 2026, so I guess that's not the problem. Maybe we just got some bad product. We'll just stick with Perry's or Breyers ice cream because we know what to expect from those two brands.
October 09 · R JI needed a half gallon of ice cream that they did not have. The young lady was nice and offered me pints instead. I asked if it would be the same price. She said yes maybe even cheaper. I was then charged 15 dollars for a half gallon of ice cream. Guess we won't be back for a while if ever. I thought she understood me when I said I needed a half gallon.
