Mr. Coolee's Ice Cream Shop Introduce
Mr. Coolee's Ice Cream Shop has long been a familiar fixture in the Newark, New York, community. For many years, this local establishment was known as a beloved spot for residents to grab a generous and affordable frozen treat. The shop has recently undergone a change in ownership, a transition that has brought with it some significant changes to the customer experience. The new management has been navigating the challenge of living up to the high standards set by its predecessors, who, as a former employee mentioned, "spent so much time building Coolee’s to what it was." This is a place with a strong history and a reputation built on "sizes, prices, and smiling faces!" The new direction has been met with mixed reviews from a long-standing customer base. Reviews highlight a change in portion sizes and pricing, with one customer noting that the small size is now "half of what they used to be and more expensive." The consistency of both pricing and serving sizes has also been a point of contention, with a customer reporting "Incredibly inconsistent with portion and prices." Additionally, a previous employee shared a disappointing experience with the quality and accuracy of their order, including a sundae that was "made incorrectly" and a change in the flavor of the soft serve. These changes have been a challenge for the shop as it attempts to find its footing under new ownership. The strong feedback from dedicated customers reflects a deep-seated love for the institution that Mr. Coolee's was and a hopeful desire for it to return to its previous standards of quality and value. It remains a local landmark, and its future will be defined by how it adapts to this feedback while honoring the legacy it has inherited.

- Sundaes: The shop offers classic sundaes, though a review mentioned an order for a "bakery batter sundae" was made incorrectly, with Oreos instead of brownies and a tiny amount of hot fudge.
- Variety of Toppings: Customers can customize their orders with toppings, though a review mentioned receiving "crushed" nuts instead of the requested "Spanish nuts" after clarifying the order.
- Inconsistent Pricing and Portions: A major point of feedback is the inconsistency in both the price and size of orders, with one customer describing a "monstrous" medium on one visit and a tiny small on another, while the price also fluctuated.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As a previous employee of 10+ years, I’m really disappointed in the new owners idea of quality. I originally went a few days after opening and was really sad when I realized that the sizes are half of what they used to be and more expensive for what you’re getting. Example - small is $4.75 for 2 scoops but it used to be $5 for 4 scoops. If you’re going to make this dramatic of a change, the public should know. Coolee’s was built on our sizes, prices, and smiling faces! What has lead me to leaving a review is that I decided to give a second chance (2 months later) and was let down again. We ordered a small twist in a dish and the ice cream was only around the edges of the cup instead of filled thoroughly (see photo), I also ordered a bakery batter sundae which was made incorrectly - I unfortunately realized it once I got home, but instead of brownies it had Oreos, which would have been fine but they did not taste good, had the tiniest amount of hot fudge, and I asked for Spanish nuts but received crushed even after clarifying. The vanilla soft serve also didn’t taste like normal.I don’t want anything out of this but Krick, our entire team, Kevin, and Dawn spent so much time building Coolee’s to what it was. It’s very easy to see the difference if you were a prior customer and visited surrounding shops. If you’re going to take over the towns favorite ice cream shop, at least live up to its standards.
July 14 · Marina HurlburtWe've been 3 times now since the new owners and are disappointed more and more each time. First time, we got 2 smalls and they charged $12, and they were pretty small (smaller than the smalls from the previous owners). Second time, we got 2 mediums because we didn't like how small the smalls were and they were monstrous. Again, $12. Ordered the exact same thing. Third time, got 2 smalls, $9.50 and one was tiny and the other was almost as big as the medium from the second time. Incredibly inconsistent with portion and prices. Unfortunately, we are done with this place.
June 18 · John SMore like Mr. unCoolee's.The staff was very bothered by our basic questions that we only had due to the poor signage and lack of available up-to-date menus on the internet. The ice cream was very alright, but I feel like our vibe was killed, and vibe is like 90% of the getting ice cream experience.I get it, they're training, that's the only information that the signage makes clear.
June 27 · GaryFirst time visiting this icecream place. When they tell you their serving sizes are big listen bahahahahaha cause what you see in the picture is a small! Yes a small lol. The icecream was good and the staff is friendly I definitely recommend trying this place out!
September 11 · Crystal KnowlesHands down the best ice cream around the area and for a very reasonable price you definitely get your money's worth They have a beautiful fish pond inside that's wonderful to look at.
