Nina’s Waffles Introduce
Nina’s Waffles is more than just a typical ice cream shop; it's a destination for dessert lovers seeking a truly unique and high-quality treat. Nestled in the heart of Newtown, Pennsylvania, this local establishment has carved out a special place in the hearts of residents by combining the irresistible charm of authentic Belgian Liege waffles with a fantastic selection of small-batch, artisanal ice cream. The story of Nina’s Waffles is one of passion and dedication, born from a dream to bring a beloved European classic to American soil. The founder, originally from Greece and raised in Brussels, Belgium, was inspired by the rich, caramelized sugar flavor of Liege waffles he enjoyed during his childhood. This inspiration blossomed into Nina’s Waffles, a business named after his youngest daughter, which has grown to become a local institution with several locations across Bucks County.
What sets Nina’s Waffles apart is its unwavering commitment to quality. The business prides itself on a hands-on, from-scratch approach to its products. They pasteurize their own ice cream base at a local Bucks County dairy plant, ensuring a rich and creamy texture that serves as the perfect canvas for their imaginative flavors. Their waffles are a masterpiece in themselves, made from an in-house recipe using a special type of sugar imported from Belgium. This unique sugar does not burn at high temperatures, but instead caramelizes within the dough, creating the delightful aroma and satisfying chewiness that is the hallmark of a genuine Liege waffle. The result is a dessert experience that is both authentic and elevated, drawing in not only local Pennsylvanians but also Belgian natives who reportedly attest to its quality.
The menu at Nina’s Waffles goes beyond simple scoops and cones. While the ice cream is a star in its own right, the true magic happens when it's paired with one of their warm, freshly made waffles. Customers can choose from a variety of signature creations or build their own, combining their favorite ice cream flavors with an array of house-made toppings. The creative combinations, such as the S'mores Waffle with torched marshmallow fluff and chocolate ganache, or the Apple Pie Waffle with warm cinnamon-sugar baked apples, caramel, and whipped cream, showcase the shop's playful and inventive spirit.
While a few customers have noted some room for improvement in areas like order pickup systems and customer service, the overwhelming sentiment in reviews highlights the amazing quality of the ice cream and waffles. The deliciousness of their offerings, including unique options like dairy-free and egg-free coconut raspberry ice cream, is a consistent point of praise. This demonstrates a commitment to catering to different tastes and dietary needs while maintaining a high standard of flavor and quality. For anyone in the Newtown area looking for an unforgettable dessert experience, Nina’s Waffles is a name that comes up again and again for a reason.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ice cream is amazing, by far. However, customer service and deliverance could be way better. Staff aren't the friendliest. There is also no system for grabbing your order - no names called or number system. You have to stand there and guess which is yours. It becomes difficult when other customers who ordered after you assume your order is theirs leading to confusion and missing orders. For example, a couple who ordered AFTER us assumed two of our orders were theirs. The other customer grabbed both and realized they weren't his. Once another customer touches something that isn't theirs it should be an automatic thrown in the trash, especially once fingers touch ice cream. We asked for another order to be made due to this occurrence and received a snarky remark from an employee. Aren't you all safe serve certified? Overall, I recommend a system be created to make picking up your order more efficient and seamless.
June 07 · Selena DeLucaWe have ordered scoop of sea salt caramel and dairy free egg free coconut raspberry ice cream. The ice cream was pretty decent , the coconut raspberry flavor was interesting, to have an ice cream which is dairy free to have a nice taste was surprising. The waffle cone could have been better , was missing a lil bit of crunchiness . The ice cream texture could have been more rich and luxurious. The thing which I missed was that the place did not have many chocolate flavored ice-creams.I would try this place when in the area for sure. Next time may be we will try having ice cream with their waffles.
August 25 · swanalika avulaCute little ice cream shop tucked away on the outer edge of a busy plaza. It has a small town feel to it and was very quiet. I was surprised with the nice relaxing outside deck to sit and eat. We didn’t try the waffles this time, but the strawberry shake, pistachio ice cream and chocolate cream were all delicious. Will be back to try the waffles on another night!
May 10 · Bree WhiteWe have enjoyed the ice cream and waffles over the years but the Newtown location has consistently been very poor customer service. You would think an ice cream shop would make people happy but that is not the case. It seems as if nobody enjoys their job there. I am so sorry to have bothered you.
May 06 · Tom HurstNina's is a very expensive ice cream shop, but it's a very good one. Lower prices would have earned it 5 stars.I really enjoyed my Lemon Shortbread and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in a waffle cone. The shortbread didn't seem stale, which is hard to pull off. It was very enjoyable. My son had the Cookie Dough served on top of Waffle Bites, which he loved. My wife had Mint Chip and the Tollhouse flavors in a cup and also was quite happy. But the prices. $26 was a lot to pay for what we had, though one fellow we watched ordered a single item that cost nearly as much due to the toppings and extra scoops and such. Each topping costs $2.50, so it adds up quickly. In a nutshell: great ice cream (and waffles), high prices.
