Ranch Frostie Introduce
For generations, Ranch Frostie has been a beloved fixture in the New Lenox, Illinois community. More than just a place to get ice cream, it’s a local institution that has served as a summertime gathering spot for families, friends, and local sports teams. This long-standing establishment has a rich history, having been a part of the community for over 60 years. What began as a simple soft-serve and drink stand in 1955 has evolved into a cherished local tradition, known for its classic treats and unique offerings. The business has been passed down through families, with its current sole owner, Jackie Potocki, a New Lenox resident who grew up visiting the shop herself. Her dedication to preserving the traditions and flavors that have made Ranch Frostie a success for decades is a testament to its enduring appeal.
Ranch Frostie offers a menu that is steeped in nostalgia but continues to delight modern customers. The star of the show is, of course, the classic soft-serve ice cream, which is the foundation for a wide variety of cones, sundaes, and shakes. However, it's the specific touches that make it a local favorite. One of the most talked-about items is the "crunch" topping, which is reportedly unique to the area and a must-try for any visitor. The shop's charm lies in its simplicity and its focus on quality, affordable treats. It’s a place where the atmosphere is as much a part of the experience as the food itself—a place where people go to make memories.
While the focus is on sweet treats, Ranch Frostie also offers a selection of savory items, including hot dogs, tamales, and chili, making it a complete stop for a quick lunch or dinner before indulging in dessert. This combination of "good eats" and cold treats makes it a versatile destination. The ownership's commitment to the community is also a significant part of its identity. Ranch Frostie has been a strong supporter of local youth athletics and other community events, reinforcing its role as a true neighborhood cornerstone. It’s this deep connection to the community that makes Ranch Frostie more than just a business; it’s a living part of New Lenox's history and a reliable source of summertime joy for locals.

July 21 · Bunny HeppnerIt’s fun to get off the highway and drive through small towns. If you find yourself in New Lennox, try this charming soft serve stand.I got a pineapple/strawberry sundae and the fruit topping was not too sugary. Ice cream is good quality. Counter teens were friendly!
August 15 · simon guevaraOld fashioned ice cream stand that has great ice cream and food. Workers are always friendly and quick to fill orders. Picnic tables outside to sit and enjoy your treats. Ranch Frostie is a great supporter of community sports teams and is always a favorite stop for us after games.
August 28 · Gail SchaeferThere's a general nostalgia to this place. Really brings you back to a time when the old dairy queen was that place you went to on a Sunday night to get ice cream before bed. What's really appealing is the price for the amount you get. A small to me there is like a large. 4 inches of chocolate ice cream on top of a small for under 3 dollars. Great place to go if you don't have alot of money.
