For the residents of Michigan, especially those in Detroit, Soul Rolls Ice Cream presents itself as a unique and trending option in the dessert landscape, offering a different kind of sweet treat. While the concept of rolled ice cream itself holds a certain appeal, it is crucial for locals to approach a visit with informed expectations, particularly based on recent customer feedback.
The primary reason a place like Soul Rolls Ice Cream might be considered suitable for locals is its innovative offering: rolled ice cream. This "made fresh to order" process provides a visual spectacle and a highly customizable dessert experience, allowing Michiganders to select their base and mix-ins to create a personalized treat. For those who enjoy trying new things and appreciate the interactive element of food preparation, this unique approach to ice cream can be a strong draw. It adds diversity to the local dessert scene, moving beyond traditional scooped ice cream.
Furthermore, located on Seven Mile Road, it contributes to the local economy and provides a specialized dessert option in its immediate vicinity. When a business strives for a "Clean, Upbeat" environment, as suggested by some feedback, it aims to create a pleasant atmosphere for its patrons, which can certainly enhance the overall experience.
However, it is imperative to address the significant concerns raised by recent customer reviews. Reports of "genuinely the worst tasting ice cream ever," describing it as "artificial medicine" or "disgusting," are serious red flags regarding product quality. Issues with perceived inconsistent portion sizes between different price points ($5 for a small, $10 for a large with no difference), and problems with flavor cross-contamination (e.g., "minty Reese's") also indicate challenges with product consistency and preparation. Equally concerning are the direct comments on customer service, with an "owner WAS RUDE AND HAD A Attitude for no reason," and an unpleasant "smell in there... like Wet dog." Additionally, the lack of available parking is a practical deterrent.
Given these strong negative sentiments, while the concept of rolled ice cream is appealing, Michiganders should approach a visit to Soul Rolls Ice Cream with caution and carefully manage their expectations regarding taste, portion, service, and ambiance. The suitability of this place for locals, despite its unique offering, is significantly impacted by the reported inconsistencies in product quality and customer experience. For those still curious to try, it is strongly recommended to call ahead for current hours and to be prepared for the possibility of a varied experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Saw on social media, so a friend & I went to try. This was genuinely the worst tasting ice cream ever. It didn’t taste like ice cream at all… more like artificial medicine. I got mint and my friend got chocolate. Unfortunately, we both threw ours out after the first bite.
July 06 · Aaryn ShermanI just went there today all excited because I’ve been wanting to try this for years just to be disappointed very quickly. First they charge $5 for a small $10 for a large but nothing is different about either sizes you get the same portion you get in a large that you get in a small . Secondly I ordered a customized cup that had Reece’s and brownie in it but somehow whatever was on the surface before had something to do with mint all I tasted was minty Reese’s that was disgusting I damn near wanted to throw away my hole cup and get a refund . Thirdly the owner WAS RUDE AND HAD A Attitude for no reason me and my mom both greeted her I didn’t say much because I’m shy but my mother did and she was just dry and just seemed not interested in even having a conversation. Now this is the last thing the smell in there was disgusting it smelled like Wet dog , just worse experience ever never going back . Ps there’s also no parking available either
