Strollo's Lighthouse Introduce
For many New Jersey residents, Strollo's Lighthouse is more than just an ice cream shop; it’s an enduring symbol of summer and a cherished Jersey Shore tradition. The brand's history is steeped in local lore, with roots tracing back to a family recipe brought from Italy and sold from a converted bus on the Long Branch beachfront. Today, the tradition lives on through various locations, including the one in Oakhurst, which continues to serve the classic Italian ice and soft-serve creations that have made Strollo's a household name. This location on Route 35 offers a taste of that timeless experience, providing a familiar and beloved dessert destination for the community.
The core appeal of Strollo's lies in its signature products. The homemade Italian ice is a standout, praised for its fresh, authentic flavor. Strollo's is renowned for originating the concept of dispensing Italian ice through a soft-serve machine, a method that ensures consistent quality from the first scoop to the last. This innovative approach, combined with a commitment to using natural ingredients in many of their flavors like lemon and orange, is what truly sets their product apart. In addition to the Italian ice, their creamy soft-serve ice cream, available alone or swirled with the ice, creates a variety of delicious and classic combinations that have been perfected over decades.
While the brand's reputation for quality Italian ice is strong at this Oakhurst location, some customer feedback points to areas of concern. A review mentioned inconsistencies with specialty orders like the "Breeze," a drinkable blend of ice and soft serve. It's clear that while the product itself, particularly the Italian ice, is consistently good, the execution of certain complex items and staff training could be improved. This feedback is a helpful reminder for new visitors to be clear with their orders and for the business to maintain the high standards expected of a beloved brand. Despite these issues, the quality of the Italian ice itself, as one customer noted by purchasing three quarts to go, remains a key draw for loyal patrons who trust the core product.
## Location and Accessibility
Strollo's Lighthouse is located at 1607 NJ-35 Suite 2, Oakhurst, NJ 07755, USA. This location on Route 35 is easily accessible for residents of Oakhurst and surrounding communities, making it a convenient stop for a treat. However, the location has some notable accessibility issues. According to one review, the parking and access to the site could become a "nightmare" due to ongoing construction and the addition of more stores in the vicinity. This is an important consideration for locals planning a visit, especially during peak hours.
Another key factor to note is the lack of coverage from sun or rain, as there are only a limited number of tables available for seating. This means that patrons might have to brave the elements while enjoying their treats, which is a factor to consider depending on the weather. The cash-only policy is also a significant detail, as it may inconvenience customers who primarily use cards. While many similar businesses at the shore operate this way, it is a point of note for visitors to ensure they are prepared with cash beforehand.
Despite these potential drawbacks, the shop's position on a major roadway ensures that it remains a visible and well-known destination. Its place within a commercial area provides convenience for those running errands or passing through the area. For many locals, the delicious and nostalgic products are well worth any potential parking or payment inconveniences. The shop’s ability to draw customers despite these issues is a testament to the strength of the Strollo's brand and the loyalty it commands.

May 04 · rob kasinowLove Strollo's but I would rather not go to this location. Ordered the Breeze as I have normally gotten for years but they don't do it correctly here. They don't use the right size cup and they don't blend it to the point of being drinkable. While the first time I got it at this location it was the right size, it was way too thick (think frosty). The second time, they used the small cup instead of the milkshake cup but then charged me for the full price. When I pointed out that it's literally on the menu in the tall cup, they apologized and said they'd make a note of it but they didn't offer me money back or offer to remake it.Whomever is responsible for training the staff is not doing the right job here. That being said, the italian ice is as good here as it is any other location (purchased 3 quarts to go as well). I do worry that down the road parking and access will become a nightmare. Still more stores being put in and construction going on.
July 08 · Forrest DelanoHands down the best ices. Photos don't do it justice. If you want non-dairy ice cream, this is the spot. They have regular ice cream too, but it isn't the reason Lighthouse shines. Be forewarned, they only take cash.
