The Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream Introduce

This is not your average ice cream shop; it is a place where creativity, craftsmanship, and a love for delicious, high-quality ingredients come together. Owners Kehmally Karl and Jeff McCauley, who started the business from an ice cream cart, have built a reputation for their inventive, small-batch flavors that push the boundaries of traditional ice cream. The shop prides itself on its use of New York State dairy and other locally sourced ingredients, which not only supports the local economy but also results in a fresher, more flavorful product. The unique approach and commitment to quality have earned The Dutch Udder a loyal following and a spot as a must-visit destination in the Capital Region.
What truly sets The Dutch Udder apart is the sheer inventiveness of its flavor profiles. The menu is constantly evolving, with new flavors like "Blueberry muffin" making appearances to keep things fresh and exciting for repeat customers. This constant innovation is a hallmark of their craft. Customers have also noted a distinctive "fluffy and sticky" texture to the ice cream, which is achieved by adding a tiny bit of liquor during the process to lower the freezing point while adding a layer of flavor. This attention to detail and willingness to experiment is what elevates their product beyond the ordinary.
The atmosphere of The Dutch Udder is just as unique as its ice cream. The interior is on-theme and "very photo-worthy," with playful decor like an ice cream sandwich futon and seats that look like Oreo cookies. This whimsical and fun environment creates a memorable experience that complements the delicious treats. Beyond the standard scoops, the shop offers a whole range of specialty items that have customers eager to return and try them all, from donut sandwiches to chocolate tacos and classic root beer floats. The option to get a flight of ice cream allows patrons to sample multiple flavors, which is perfect for first-time visitors or those who simply can't choose. The staff are described as "excellent" and are happy to make suggestions, making the experience welcoming and friendly for everyone who walks in the door.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Dutch Udder is quickly becoming my favorite ice cream spot. Their ice cream flavors are delicious, creamy, and so inventive. From the rich chocolate caliente to the cookies + Irish cream, and let's not forget about the koffie (instant death) for us coffee aficionados--each scoop is a flavor adventure. Plus, I adore that they keep things fresh with new flavors every once in a while (hello Blueberry muffin!)They've got a whole range of specialty treats to explore that I still need to try - donut sandwiches, chocolate tacos, root beer floats, and more! And they have a range of cone flavors - birthday cake, lavender, chocolate, etc.I can't wait to go back and dive into their specialty items yum yum
August 22 · Shubhi GautamThis is some of the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. They do add a tiny bit of liquor during their process to lower the freezing point while adding flavor, giving their ice cream a fluffy and sticky texture. I tried the Rochella (Nutella with Frangelico) and it was amazing. They have a flight option for trying multiple flavors too. Plus they allow you to sample before you buy. Inside the store it's very on-theme. They had an ice cream sandwich futon and Oreo seats! It's very photo-worthy. Staff were excellent and made suggestions since it was my first time. I would make the trip for this ice cream alone!
August 11 · Michelle LcCute shop with over 150 rotating flavors. The ice cream is a bit sticky and dense, in a way that reminds me of gelato.Their flavors are great and you can ask for samples before you decide.Hope to come back more often and try some other flavors!
August 28 · Jun SimonsAfter walking through the farmer's market (which I highly recommend), I stopped in for a chocolate waffle cone and dairy free chocolate ice cream. Excellent. The staff was friendly, the dairy free ice cream was creamy and coconutty, and the waffle co e was delicious. I highly recommend the Dutch Udder.
October 19 · Alison HertzCutest little ice cream spot. Unique craft flavors. Lots of dairy free and gluten free options- even for toppings. Really friendly staff. They let us have samples since the flavors are unique. Love the ambience- super kid friendly... they can even draw on the tables with chalk!
