The Scoop Introduce
Nestled in the Lincoln Place neighborhood of Pittsburgh, The Scoop is an ice cream shop that has carved out a unique identity for itself as a local go-to spot for frozen desserts. Located at 5384 Mifflin Rd, this establishment is known for its wide variety of flavors and a commitment to providing a friendly and efficient customer experience. The shop’s approach is to offer a straightforward, classic ice cream parlor feel, where the focus is on the quality of the treat and the speed of service. For locals, The Scoop is a convenient and often praised option for a quick dessert, whether it's for a small family outing or a large gathering. The shop's presence in this part of Pittsburgh makes it a cherished local establishment, providing a classic and reliable sweet spot for residents.
The Scoop has garnered a reputation for its service and its ability to handle a high volume of customers without sacrificing quality. One customer review specifically highlights this, mentioning that their large group of 12 people was served "in and out fast" and that the staff was "super friendly." This is a significant point for a business in a popular area, as it shows a commitment to efficiency and customer satisfaction, even during busy times. The friendly and accommodating staff is a major plus, contributing to a positive atmosphere that makes customers want to return. However, public feedback also presents a contrasting perspective, particularly regarding the pricing. One customer noted that the cost for two people to get a sweet treat was high, calling it "expensive as hell" and stating they "won’t be back." This disparity in reviews points to a key challenge for the business: balancing a quality product and efficient service with pricing that is competitive and perceived as fair by the local community. It is a reminder that while good service can win over many, pricing is a critical factor in customer loyalty, especially in the current economic climate.
The core of The Scoop’s appeal is its ice cream. Customers who have had a positive experience often rave about the product itself, with one review simply stating, "The ice cream is so good!" While a full menu and pricing list for this specific location are not always easy to find online, the brand is known for offering a wide range of homemade ice cream flavors. Some locations of "Scoops" in Pittsburgh, which may or may not be directly related but share a similar name and business model, boast an extensive menu of premium, homemade flavors, which likely reflects the offerings at this Mifflin Road location as well. This focus on homemade quality is a major draw for customers who appreciate a product made with care rather than a mass-produced one. The variety of flavors, which can include both classic staples and more unique options, ensures that there is something to delight everyone, from a simple vanilla lover to an adventurous taster. This commitment to variety and quality is a key reason why many customers, despite concerns about price, are still enthusiastic about the taste of the ice cream itself.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Expensive as hell. But hey, what isn’t in 2025. $19 for 2 people to have a sweet treat. Won’t be back.
July 13 · Patrick TunstallThis place was amazing! We had a large group of 12 and they got us in and out fast and they were super friendly. The ice cream is so good! We will definitely be back!
April 19 · blaze unlimitrdI am genuinely perplexed by any 5-star reviews. Today was my 3rd and final time trying to support my local ice cream place. Two ice cream cones with 2 scoops totaled $21.40. I do believe I gasped when she told me the price. I didn't have enough cash and had to scrounge my change purse for the $1.40. I wish I was kidding but the same thing happened the first time I went about 4 years ago--I told them I had to run back to my car to find change as they are CASH ONLY. There are NO PRICES LISTED anywhere on the menu. Every time my partner has gone, they have been out of the flavors he wanted--they were out of 3 of the 3 he asked for--1 being a substitute for the 2 he wanted initially. My strawberry ice cream was bubble gum pink and tasted like Nesquik strawberry. The flavors are mediocre at best. I can't afford to support a business charging $5 per scoop. I'll save my dollars and go to Dairy Queen, Bruster's, Dell's or Page's. Best of luck Scoop, your prices are downright silly.
May 04 · Shannon JWe genuinely love stopping here when we have the opportunity. We rushed and made it there exactly 10 mins before closing time, hoping for some simple ice cream cones. They watched us pull up and turned all the lights off. Very disappointed to not be served.
June 07 · Kaleena McCarthyIf I could give this place zero stars I would .I haven’t went to this place in years despite living a minute away .They wanted almost 13.00 for a large cone and a cup of hard ice cream !!!!!The ice cream sucks and the place is so expensive. You can go a few minutes down the road and get Dairy Queen for half the price .
