Village Creamery & Sweetshop Introduce
In the heart of Valhalla, New York, a local gem has been serving up sweet treats for over a decade. Village Creamery & Sweetshop, established in 2014 by husband and wife team John and Kristin Caldarola, quickly became a go-to spot for residents of all ages. The couple, both deeply involved in the Valhalla community, transformed the space, which once housed the Mount Pleasant Public Library, into a brightly colored store reminiscent of a classic sweet shop. The creamery's core mission is to provide high-quality, homemade ice cream and other delightful desserts in a welcoming and friendly environment. John Caldarola, an avid cook, took on the role of ice cream maker, creating an array of delicious flavors based on his original vanilla recipe. Their commitment to using natural ingredients and avoiding artificial coloring has earned them a strong reputation. The shop has even been recognized for its quality, winning the "DVlicious 'Best Ice Cream In Westchester'" title. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of Village Creamery & Sweetshop, detailing its location, diverse menu, and the features that make it a cherished part of the local landscape. It's a place where families can create traditions, and neighbors can enjoy a moment of indulgence, whether it's a hot summer day or a chilly winter evening.
The story of Village Creamery is deeply rooted in its community. Owners John and Kristin Caldarola, both from the area, wanted to create a business that would be a natural attraction in Valhalla. With Kristin having served as co-president of the Valhalla School District's PTA and both serving on the board of the Kensico Little League, they had strong ties to the community before they even opened their doors. This connection has been a key factor in the shop's success, with a host of local support from the very beginning. The business's focus on homemade, natural products has always been a point of pride. John Caldarola has become an expert at crafting a wide variety of flavors, from classic vanilla and chocolate to more creative concoctions like Captain Crunchberry and "Let's do Brunch," which features a maple base with French toast pieces and bacon. While the shop is celebrated for its ice cream, it has also expanded its menu to include a range of other sweet and savory items, ensuring it can be a year-round destination for locals. This evolution from a simple ice cream shop to a comprehensive sweetshop demonstrates the owners' dedication to meeting the needs of their customers and continuing to be a valuable part of the Valhalla community. The shop's history and its commitment to quality and local involvement are what make it a beloved institution for many residents.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Michele, Evelyn, and Emily are amazing! Service was super fast and food was great! I highly recommend this amazing creamery for your nightly outings with the wife or even if you’re a lonely fellow. My experience here was extravagant and out of this world!
May 24 · Noah NevittSorry but the last 2 times we got ice cream it was not fresh. But in the past this was always a reliable and consistent place to get good ice cream. My wife had the soft serve and she said that was okay. Disappointing because we would use this as a dessert stop after eating at Valhalla Crossing across the street. Crossing fingers for the next time.
July 07 · E RuffinoGirl at the register taking my order had a 🗑 attitude.Quality of the ice cream is average. I wanted walnuts on my ice cream , but they gave it to me in an extra cup on the side.🤡
May 21 · Dr. Hitali ShahVery good ice cream! This is the type of ice cream where you will be tempted to get a bigger size and over indulge, good stuff! Nice variety and great service.
July 09 · mo rumWorkers are usually rude but this time it really annoyed me. Came 25 minutes before they closed because I’d just gotten off work, which I assumed was okay, but they’re always annoyed regardless. I asked for a flavor they usually had and she gave me something else. When I tasted and noticed it was the new variation of the flavor they offered I apologized for misreading the menu and asked for a different flavor and she said id have to pay for a new one. I had one bite and it tasted bad but I was trying to be nice about it. I said she could throw it out because I figured that was the stores policy, but she just grabbed it and tossed it. She then made me pay for a whole new ice cream after throwing out my old one. I’ve worked in food service for 8 years, I’m aware this is not how you do business.
