Crispy Cones offers a menu centered around its unique "chimney cake" or trdelník, which serves as the vessel for a variety of delicious fillings. The shop’s focus is on providing a customizable and high-quality dessert experience.
The services and products offered at Crispy Cones include:
Crispy Cones (Chimney Cakes): The main attraction. The cones are made from a "soft dough" that is baked fresh to be "crispy" on the outside. Customers can get a traditional cone, or choose to have it filled with ice cream, or even just the cone on its own, as a review mentions. They also offer a "traditional cone" which is "superior" in one customer’s opinion.
Ice Cream: The cones are typically filled with soft-serve ice cream. A customer review mentioned getting a cone filled with "vanilla," which is a classic choice. They also offer a "just ice cream and no cone" option, which caters to those who may have different preferences.
Spreads: Customers can choose a spread to line the inside of their cone, such as Nutella. This adds an extra layer of flavor and texture to the dessert.
Toppings and Sauces: The shop offers a wide variety of toppings and sauces to customize your creation. A customer review praised the "different spreads, toppings, and sauce options" that gave them "plenty to choose from." Options likely include fruit like strawberries, as mentioned in a review, sprinkles, and various syrups.
Custom Orders: The self-service kiosk is a key part of the ordering process, allowing customers to fully customize their dessert. This gives patrons full control over their perfect combination, a feature that was highly appreciated by reviewers.
Other Treats: While the focus is on the cones, the shop may offer other treats and beverages to complement the main offerings.
The menu's emphasis on customization and its unique product sets it apart from traditional ice cream shops, offering a memorable dessert experience.
Crispy Cones in Allison Park has several key features and highlights that make it a standout business in the region. These attributes are what create its strong reputation and customer loyalty.
Unique Dessert Concept: The core feature is the crispy cone itself, or trdelník. This is a very different type of dessert than what is typically found in the Pittsburgh area, making it a unique and exciting destination. The combination of a warm, fresh-baked cone with cold ice cream is a sensory experience that customers love.
Self-Service Kiosk: The use of a self-service kiosk for ordering is a modern and efficient feature. It gives customers full control over their custom orders, allowing them to take their time and explore the vast options. This also makes the ordering process streamlined and quick.
Highly Customizable Menu: The wide variety of spreads, toppings, sauces, and ice cream options is a major highlight. A customer review noted that they were "very satisfied with our custom orders" and that there were "a lot of options." This is a key reason customers are willing to travel to the shop.
Friendly and Helpful Staff: Despite the use of a kiosk, the staff is noted as being "very friendly and helpful." This human element ensures that customers feel welcomed and supported, and it adds to the positive atmosphere of the shop.
Clean Environment: A customer review specifically mentioned that the "shop, including the bathrooms were clean." This is an important highlight for any food establishment and shows a commitment to providing a high-quality and comfortable experience for patrons.
While a review did mention an issue with the phone not being answered, it's important to note that this is a common challenge for small, busy shops. The fact that the staff was accommodating once the customer arrived shows a commitment to customer service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Took my boys on a weekday afternoon. The self-service kiosk was easy to use. There were a lot of options. We liked that you could get a cone with ice cream, just ice cream and no cone, or just cone and no ice cream. The different spreads, toppings, and sauce options gave us plenty to choose from and everyone was very satisfied with our custom orders. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shop, including the bathrooms were clean. My boys give Crispy Cones 100 stars! We are about 40 minutes away but will most certainly be back! Thank you for a great and delicious first experienced!
July 09 · Nicole ChiadoSo I went with my daughter on a week day in the early morning! So luckily we were the only ones there! There is approx 4 high top tables (no chairs)And then 3/4 low tables with 4 chairs each. So depending on how busy, you’ll be able to sit inside!I got a traditional cone (which is superior in my opinion) filled with Nutella, vanilla and strawberries! It was really good! I 100% would get it again! The cones are like a soft dough and they were delicious! My biggest advice is to make sure you grab lots of napkins and get an extra cup, it melts pretty fast and gets messy to just easier to pop the ice cream in a separate cup!My biggest complaint is that no one answers the phones no matter how much you call. I drove from an hour away and when I got there the open sign wasn’t on so I was nervous! But I told them and they turned it on.
May 12 · Ciara DeWaltSmall space with an odd set-up, needs a big "order here" sign above the self-serve kiosk or something. It's new so of course it was crowded and they were a bit slow, but that's expected week 1.The Biscoff cone was absolutely delicious. Might be the best ice cream idea, the way the hot "cone" melts the ice cream. those last few bites are magical.Cant wait to go back!5-14, 3rd time and absolutely obsessed
May 14 · Kaylin M.Walking into the shop, we felt a bit lost 😕and confusing. *💬In this kind of business, the first thing customers need is eye contact to show their welcome or a menu to focus on.The layout was tricky with limited space, and the floor plan for business didn't work out really well, and ordering was awkward, but staff members were nice and tried to be helpful.`` ᵀʰᵉ ᵒᵛᵉʳᵃˡˡ ᵃᵗᵐᵒˢᵖʰᵉʳᵉ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵉⁿᵉʳᵍʸ ⁱⁿˢⁱᵈᵉ ᶠᵉˡᵗ qᵘⁱᵗᵉ ᵘⁿᶜᵒᵐᶠᵒʳᵗᵃᵇˡᵉ.👍 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨: lovely staff and nice presentation!🙌😊🍦𝙏𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 : Given the price, I had certain expectations, but we were disappointed with both flavors we chose to try.📍The peanut butter filling was acceptable, but the chocolate soft serve flavor could have been of better quality. The chocolate cream tasted just okay, but it lacked the rich, premium chocolate flavor that makes you wanna have more or feel unique.📍The cinnamon and sugar cone was sweet + vanilla ~sweet soft serve (not rich and creamy enough)🚩 so we thought ordered the raspberry sauce hoping it would help cut through the sweetness of everything, expecting a high-quality sauce with a naturally sweet and sour flavor. 🙅♀️But it turned out to be a cheap, overly sweet sauce drizzled over items that were already excessively sweet.💁♂️*𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁, but unfortunately, it's quite disappointing. It's neither crispy nor flavorful; it’s just bland and overly sweet.# The floor and table were dirty and sticky. I feel like everything is sticky😅. It would be good if there was alcohol gel for customers.🤦♀️Everything made our dessert experience quite bad. especially given the price and the beautiful presentation in photos and videos. End of the honest review. Thank you.🙌🙏🤎
April 13 · Switt InPittsburghCrispy Cones was packed when we visited but I expected it. We waited a little over an hour but it was worth it! I'd like to visit again once the initial excitement wears off. My cone was tasty and fun, but it would probably be even better if the employees weren't under so much pressure. Great addition to the North Hills though. I'm glad to have a Crispy Cones.
