normally have a positive experience here but i’m not quite sure what was going on today. it was very busy and two lines had formed in front of the registers. my friend and i stood in front of one of the registers for about fifteen minutes while multiple employees made eye contact with us but ignored us and served customers around us without checking to see if we had placed an order yet or not.i ended up asking if they were taking orders at that register and was told no. my friend pointed out that they could’ve told us that sooner and other customers stated how ridiculous it was as well and instead of apologizing they just laughed. i get being busy and understaffed but it was only after we complained that they put a sign on the register stating they weren’t taking orders there. it was incredibly annoying to have multiple employees watch an entire line of people waiting and not direct us where to go.

Kindness is greater than Grifting.I stopped at the Dairy Queen on Devon in Elk Grove Village, IL. When I wentin, I observed an older, upwardly mobile woman. She flashed a laminated picture with words and an image to verify her disability to ask for free food. The owner looked it over and said he wouldn't give her free food, but he would give her a free cone. She somehow fangled him into agreeing to give her 4 more cones, for her children. The owner said he would if they would come in the store. Notice, the business owner abided by his promise to give, anyone else would have kicked her out. She pointed across the busy street to the gas station. She insisted she would carry 5 ice cream cones by herself across a busy street. I observed on her arm she had a Neon yellow hospital bracelet that said "fall risk" in bold black print. In my opinion, I felt he was being gifted because no one I have ever observed who was an actual fall risk would endure juggling 5 ice cream cones in hand while crossing the busy Devon and Arlington Hts. Road intersection. He then said he would help her carry them all across the street. I became intrigued because I wondered if he wanted to see if there were actually 4 other children and/or go beyond call of duty.He exited behind her, carrying the cones. A man walked up to meet them and they crossed to the gas station. The owner came back with empty hands. He waved at me as I enjoyed my pineapple sundae in the parking lot. In this time of crazy inflation and all the hardship small businesses have gone through in these past two years, it is a rare beacon of light to see a small business owner help someone. I cannot verify, if the woman was actually in need or not. I felt it was a grift, but only God knows. I want to emphasize that from now on I will bypass my 3 local Dairy Queens and go only to the Elk Grove location from now on because I want to do my part in supporting a business owner who is caring and stands by his word.
