Edy's Grand Ice Cream Introduce
Edy's Grand Ice Cream: A Household Name with a Local Connection in Pittsburgh
Edy's Grand Ice Cream is a name that is instantly recognizable to most people across the United States. Known as Dreyer's in some western states, this brand is a staple in grocery store freezer aisles nationwide. Its wide availability and familiar branding have made it a go-to choice for families looking for a convenient and affordable frozen treat. While the brand is a national one, its presence in Pittsburgh is particularly notable due to the location of a key distribution center. This facility serves as a hub for getting their popular ice cream from the production line to the shelves of local grocery stores, making it a crucial part of the local food supply chain. This connection offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how a major brand operates within our community.
The brand itself is owned by Nestle, a global food and beverage corporation, which speaks to its large-scale production and distribution capabilities. Edy's has carved out a significant niche in the market by offering a variety of flavors and product lines, including its well-known "Slow Churned" options. These varieties are specifically marketed as having fewer calories and less fat than traditional ice cream, appealing to consumers who are conscious of their dietary choices. The brand’s competitive pricing often places it in direct comparison with other popular grocery store brands like Breyer's and Friendly's, making it a regular contender for a spot in the shopping cart of many Pittsburgh residents.
A Central Distribution Hub in Pittsburgh
The distribution center for Edy's Grand Ice Cream is located at 910 Vista Park Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, USA. This address is situated in a commercial and industrial area of Pittsburgh, which is strategically ideal for logistical operations. The location is reportedly near Carl Walker Construction, a point of reference that helps locals identify the area. As a distribution center, it is not a retail storefront where customers can buy ice cream directly. Instead, it is the logistical heart that ensures Edy's products are delivered efficiently to supermarkets and other retail partners across the region.
For local users, the existence of this center means that Edy's ice cream is readily available in virtually every grocery store, from large chains to smaller local markets. Its location in Pittsburgh ensures a steady supply, reducing the chances of a favorite flavor being out of stock. The accessibility of this address, while not for public visits, underscores how deeply integrated this national brand is within the local infrastructure. For residents of Pittsburgh, Edy's Grand Ice Cream occupies a distinct space in the local dessert landscape. It is not a specialty shop or a destination for a unique, handcrafted experience. The brand is perfect for those moments when you're already at the grocery store and want to grab a pint for a family movie night without making an extra stop. Edy's Grand Ice Cream Reviews
Edy's (also known as Dreyer's in some parts of the USA) is an nice cream brand that you'll find in almost any grocery store. The brand is owned by Nestle. Apparently they also have a center in Pittsburgh where they distribute it (located near Carl Walker Construction). I haven't tried their ice cream until today. There were quite a few enticing flavors, but I ended up choosing the classic caramel. It wasn't bad ice cream, but it was definitely mediocre. Prices are decent when compared to other brands like Breyer's, Friendly's, and the like. They also offer lower calorie options with their 'Slow Churned' varieties, which is the type I went with tonight. There were very few strips of caramel in this ice cream. The base itself was vaguely sweet, almost just vanilla with a hint of caramel. Not very good, and I've had much better at smaller shops. All in all, the only reasons I could think of for buying Edy's is getting a slightly less caloric ice cream (33%) when there are no other options or if you're short on cash and can't visit a local shop (maybe if you just visited the grocery store and don't want to stop anywhere else). If you want cheap grocery store ice cream, just go to Aldi and try their brands. Their popsicles are delicious and their low calorie Belmont varieties are insanely good for the price (less than Edy's price wise, and huge strips of caramel. Fruit varieties amazing too).
