It’s a place where you can grab a delicious sub for lunch and follow it up with a scoop of your favorite ice cream, all while the kids enjoy themselves in a safe, fun environment. The shop's reputation is built on this dual appeal: it serves up classic ice cream and savory food, while also providing amenities that make it a perfect destination for a family outing. This article serves as a comprehensive guide to L&M Sweet Spot, exploring its offerings, atmosphere, and what makes it a suitable and memorable stop for anyone in the St. Helen area. We will delve into customer feedback to provide a factual and balanced perspective, highlighting the strengths of this local business and offering insights that will help you plan your visit. It is a place that has carved out a special niche in the community by focusing on a holistic experience that caters to all ages and appetites.
L&M Sweet Spot has a diverse menu that goes beyond what you might expect from a typical ice cream parlor. While their ice cream is a central part of their identity, they also offer a variety of savory food items. According to customer reviews, this includes hard shell tacos, chicken bacon ranch, and Italian subs. This makes the shop a versatile spot for a full meal, not just a dessert stop, which is a significant advantage for families looking to satisfy multiple cravings in one location. The quality of these food items is often praised, with customers calling them "delicious." On the ice cream front, the shop offers a range of unique and classic flavors, with patrons specifically mentioning "play dough," "amaretto cherry," and "nachos ice cream" as examples of their creative offerings. This mix of traditional and inventive flavors ensures that there is always something new and exciting to try, keeping customers engaged and encouraging repeat visits. The shop's dedication to providing a broad menu is a key part of its appeal, as it positions itself as a one-stop-shop for a satisfying and fun meal. The food and ice cream menus are carefully curated to provide a wide variety of choices that appeal to a broad audience, from simple classics to more adventurous options.
The atmosphere and amenities at L&M Sweet Spot are a major draw for local families. The establishment is described as a "very clean, friendly environment" that is "budget friendly." A standout feature that sets this business apart is the free bouncy house for kids. This allows parents to enjoy their meal and relax while their children have fun, a detail that one customer specifically highlighted as a reason for their positive experience. The shop also offers other entertainment options, such as pool and cornhole, which adds a "fun touch" and appeals to a slightly older crowd. These free-of-charge amenities make it an economical choice for a family outing, where you don't have to "break the bank to have a great time." This focus on providing value beyond just the food is a central part of the business's identity and a key reason for its popularity. However, it is important to note that some customer experiences mention a few minor drawbacks. One review mentioned that the lack of air conditioning can make "hot, busy days pretty uncomfortable," and that "flickering lights" can be "distracting and annoying." These are details that a factual, local guide should include to set realistic expectations for visitors, especially on a hot summer day in Michigan. Despite these points, the overall sentiment remains positive regarding the fun and family-friendly environment.
The staff and service at L&M Sweet Spot have received mixed feedback from customers, which is a key piece of information for a balanced review. One customer described the staff as "super friendly," contributing to a positive experience. Another review, however, mentioned that the staff can be "hit or miss, sometimes super friendly, other times a bit awkward and distant." This suggests that the customer service experience may vary, which is a common occurrence in many small businesses. It’s a detail that can be helpful for a local user to know in advance. While the ice cream itself is a core offering, one review noted that it is "nothing special, just your basic scoops." This is an interesting counterpoint to the more positive feedback and provides a balanced perspective on the product. It’s a place that is more about the complete experience—the combination of food, ice cream, and entertainment—rather than just the quality of a single item. This holistic view of the business helps to explain why it remains a popular spot despite some critiques. The shop's overall commitment to creating a fun, low-cost experience is what ultimately keeps people coming back.
In terms of location and accessibility, L&M Sweet Spot is situated in a central area of St. Helen, making it a convenient stop for locals. The address, 1817 N St Helen Rd, is easy to find. The shop is well-positioned to be a go-to spot for a quick bite or a relaxed family gathering. The fact that it is a community staple and has a strong local identity is a major reason for its success. It offers a unique value proposition that combines food, fun, and affordability, all in one place. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very clean, friendly environment ,budget friendly 👌 kids have fun. we had hard shell tacos (beef and chicken) , chicken bacon ranch, and Italian subs . Ice-cream: play dough, amaretto cherry plus the nachos ice cream ,everything was delicious plus I could enjoy my meal while the kids play in the bouncy house (free of charge) so I didn't have to break the bank to have a great time.
June 19 · Rocio VillaThe staff here is hit or miss, sometimes super friendly, other times a bit awkward and distant. They do have pool and cornhole, which adds a fun touch, especially for a small-town spot. The ice cream itself is nothing special, just your basic scoops. Parking is limited, but that’s to be expected in a small town. The flickering lights are really distracting and annoying, and the lack of air conditioning makes hot, busy days pretty uncomfortable. Overall, it’s an okay place, but I usually end up going elsewhere.
June 20 · HeavenWhen I walked in I thought that I might have made a mistake. The place looks dated, and maybe neglected. Had ice cream and a chocolate shake. Wasn't too bad. Shake could have been a little better. Amusements for kids.
August 29 · Mr. Nice GuyPics of menu for subs taken June 2023. Young lady working June 1 was nice and I appreciate that. Ordered four subs. You can chose between white or wheat. Subs come with the ingredients as typed on menu. You can add the vegetables as you chose. Would have given 5 star but was a little disappointed that some of the vegetables were not as fresh as they could have been like over the busy holiday weekend. Ordered 2 scoops of Lemon cheesecake Ice cream and it was delicious. As with the Makinac fudge ice cream. Ordered double scoops and appreciated that the cup was full compared to the other night. But that night the girls working were very busy. They sell Ashby's hand dipped ice cream. Even have a few sugar free. Usually sell soft serve but a few nights back we went and the machine was out of order or out. Tonight Fountain Pepsi machine was Out of Order. Bummed because I was looking forward to some Fountain pop but had to go to Marathon for some. We will be back. I want to play a few video games especially the Elvis Pinball machine. Young kids games too. They sell pizza but we haven't had that yet.
June 01 · Kimberly AbrahamA nice interior that’s very kid friendly, but a lack of AC conditioning that makes it uncomfortable. When I went yesterday it was hot and unpleasant. Asked for a meatball, and they lacked marinara and meatballs. Asked for a BLT and they lacked bacon. My friends wanted pizza, yet they only had one slice on hand. Upset stomach ever since I’ve eaten the turkey sub I’ve gotten, as well. I also recall one time where my family ordered subs from L&M only to receive a completely different order from what we ordered. Also too little workers behind the counter to efficiently take care of two-three people at once. Overall not good.
