The story of Nick Charlap’s Ice Cream is deeply rooted in local history and a passion for dairy products. The business began in 1961 when Henry Charlap, along with his father and other family members, purchased a local dairy in North Boston, New York. They started by producing fresh dairy products using locally sourced milk, and soon, their creamy and rich ice cream gained a reputation for excellence. Over the years, the business grew, and the family’s commitment to quality remained the core of their operation. After a brief period where the business was sold and the recipes changed, the Charlap family took back control, moving down the street and beginning to produce their own ice cream once again. This renewed focus on homemade quality brought back a loyal following and solidified the brand's place in the hearts of many. Today, the tradition continues, with the business specializing in premium hard ice cream and offering a wide array of flavors and treats that are a testament to their dedication to craftsmanship. This long-standing commitment to making their own product, as opposed to simply selling store-bought brands, is a defining feature of Nick Charlap’s and is what many locals believe sets it apart from the competition. It's a business built on a foundation of family, quality, and a deep understanding of what makes a truly great scoop of ice cream.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Would give 0 if I could. I never leave Google reviews but here I am. I came today, Sunday at around 7 pm. There was no line, nothing. I was standing at the window for a bit, one girl came from the back and took care of me, and was very kind and polite while taking my order. the other two with dark hair didn't seem to be very amused. I got my ice cream and waited about 15 minutes for my food, even though I ordered one thing and was the only person there. The two with darker hair seemed to be the ones preparing the food. I mean I get it was a slow day so I understand, but the food that I received was WAY overcooked and just falling apart... I ended up throwing out the food and wasn't going to bother asking for them to remake it because when the one dark haired girl in the grayish/white handed my food to me with a attitude. very disappointed in the customer service here. used to be one of my favorite places but the the quality of the food i received was definitely not worth the price 😒
May 01 · SightyShedDon't understand why this place doesn't have long lines like Andersen's. The ice cream is at least as good. Maybe better. So that was my review. The only flavor I've ever gotten has been buttercrunch. A few days ago I got some and it was totally different and really lousy. Bad enough so I would go back to Andersen's. I hope they go back to what that had. It tasted like really cheap iced cream
June 23 · maryannTook my granddaughters yo nicks on Friday night we all got same 9.00 peanut butter sundae, well they were all different in size and very very small golf ball size scoops. For 40.00 for ice-cream 👎we won't be back!
June 21 · Lisa Filipponebeware when ordering a waffle cones they reuse them got a black raspberry icecream which is purple and the cone was leaking out a brown liquid and the cone was all soggy not even after 5 minutes of me having it. and poor customer service i showed the girl she wouldn’t even give me a refund told me to come back. disgustingedit: i came back the same day it was a girl with black straight hair i told her what happened and said i wanted a refund she told me to come back because there was no manager. i HAD to come back the next day and that same girl that said she couldn’t help me seen me come back and ran to the corner to talk about me and while i was talking to the other girl she called that original girl with straight black hair and she gave me a refund. so you need to have a conversation with your staff because making me come back 2 times for an issue you guys did is horrible buisness. and i wish i can add pictures because the whole bottom of the cone was filled with melted chocolate icecream and the whole cone was soggy it wasn’t that the icecream fell into the cone the icecream SAT in the cone.
June 21 · Emily CzasterThe young man I dealt with at the Elmwood location was horrible ignorant rude. I asked him why my son‘s ice cream melted right off the cone. Was there something wrong with the machine? His response was extremely nasty. All he said was I don’t know it’s not my problem.
