The Tin Roof in Stockbridge, Michigan, is an outstanding choice for locals and those in the surrounding Michigan areas, embodying the essence of a hidden gem that delivers exceptional value and a delightful experience. Its suitability for locals stems from a perfect blend of convenience, quality, and affordability that resonates deeply with the community.
Firstly, the primary appeal for Michigan locals is the convenient drive-through service. In a state where driving is the predominant mode of transport, and people are often on the go, the ability to get a delicious ice cream treat without leaving your car is an immense advantage. This eliminates the need to find parking, brave the elements, or navigate busy indoor spaces, making it an ideal choice for a quick stop after work, during errands, or when traveling with children. This efficiency is highly valued by busy residents. The addition of a walk-up window also caters to those on foot or enjoying a stroll with their furry friends, making it particularly inviting for dog owners.
Beyond convenience, The Tin Roof truly "hits it out of the park" with its ice cream, particularly its soft serve. For many, soft serve is a classic and beloved form of ice cream, and knowing there's a local spot that excels at it, even with a basic chocolate and vanilla twist, is a huge draw. The consistent praise for its "delicious ice cream" confirms that quality is a top priority, ensuring that every visit is a satisfying one. The expanded menu, now including blizzards, sundaes, hand-dipped ice cream, and even fat-free/dairy-free Dole Whips, means there's a delightful option for virtually every preference.
What truly sets The Tin Roof apart and makes it incredibly suitable for locals is the remarkable value it offers. Customers consistently highlight that "The portion size is better than most and the price is most reasonable." In an era where many businesses are shrinking portions while increasing prices, The Tin Roof provides a refreshing counterpoint, offering generous servings at an affordable cost. This combination of quality and value makes it a smart choice for families and individuals alike, ensuring that indulging in a sweet treat doesn't break the bank.
Finally, the fact that customers are willing to make a "40 mins drive from Ann Arbor" to visit The Tin Roof speaks volumes about its reputation and the quality of its offerings. This demonstrates that even if it's a "small hole in the wall," its impact on those who discover it is significant enough to warrant a dedicated trip. For those living closer in Stockbridge or the immediate vicinity, this means a truly exceptional ice cream experience is right in their backyard. The "wonderful experience" provided by The Tin Roof solidifies its status as a highly recommended and cherished local spot, contributing to the unique charm of the Stockbridge community as a long-standing, family-owned seasonal business.

May 13 · Avinash PrakashLove that this is a drive through! I am doing "ice cream research" this summer Checking out and comparing "soft serve ice cream chocolate and vanilla twist small" and The Tin Roof really hit it out of the park! Delicious ice cream. The portion size is better than most and the price is most reasonable. Thanks for the wonderful experience!
September 12 · Kathy Byerlythe charged more than the price on the menu almost 15.00 for 2 hotdog combos when they are 5.25 each and the hotdogs were ice cold asked the worker and he said I don't know maybe the price changed so he says why do we have stuff on our menu we don't have. Wow don't recommend this place at all.
